The teams land the two jumpers and make their way to the only structure that popped up in the scanners. Sheppard leaves three Marines guarding the jumpers, alongside McKay, just in case something happens.
They find the structure fairly quickly and Sheppard hears Rosalie say that it's a secondary base, usually used for temporary storage. She had encounter a couple of them in the past, having raid them for supplies, so she can identify them fairly quickly.
Sheppard sees that it's not heavily guarded, but after checking from all sides, he realizes that it only has one entrance in and out. He had hoped they could do this covertly, but now was clear they would have to go in guns blazing.
Telling both teams to get ready, he looks over to Rosalie and sees something in her eyes he has never seen before. Asking her if she's ready, he sees Rosalie smiling at him, a smile that had some dangerous undertones, as she tells him she's ready. He will definitely have a talk with her when this is over. He looks around and sees that everyone else is ready. "Lets get our man back, shall we?", he says in lieu of order to move out.
Shouting. Gunfire. "What the hell is going on?", Evan thinks as he hears the commotion outside, feeling weak after yet another beating. He can tell someone is trying to take over the compound, but he doesn't know if it's friend or foe.
Closing his eyes, he feels himself fading. The beating and torture he has endured has taken its toll on him and he can barely keep his eyes open. Evan hates Peak, the Genii captain in charge of his torture, for pushing him to that point. But, despite everything, he is still an Air Force officer and his job is to keep the city, and everyone in it, safe, no matter what he is put through.
Evan hears the door being kicked open and a welcome sight appears in front of him. Ronon rushes in and quickly yells that he has found him. It doesn't take long before the room is flooded with a couple of Marines, Sheppard and Rosie. When Evan sees Rosie, he can't help but lower his eyes in regret that he had gotten himself in a situation where she felt the need to put herself in danger to help him.
Evan looks back at Sheppard and slowly nods, feeling Ronon untying him from the chair, before promptly collapsing forward, being supported by Rosie. He is in bad shape and he knows it. He can hear Rosie telling him to open his eyes, and when she sees his blue eyes looking straight at her, she starts tearing up. Rosie asks him to stay awake and to hold on, fear clear in her voice.
If getting in was hard, getting out is even harder. Making a run for safety, Ronon is carrying Lorne with Rosie right behind them, the rest of their team bringing up the rear, and Sheppard leading the way out. They are followed by the Genii soldiers who are firing everything they have on them. Sheppard orders the Marines back at the jumpers to get the jumpers ready and dial the gate to the pre-established secondary world, following close behind.
Getting in the jumper as quickly as they can, Ronon lays Evan on the floor, letting Rosie and Teyla dress his wounds, before joining Sheppard and McKay in the front of the jumper. Evan can barely hear what is being said, but what he can hear doesn't sound good.
Evan feels Rosie's hands wrapping themselves around his and looks over to her. Her eyes are worried and filled with tears, and he can hear in her voice the fear of losing him. She keeps telling him to keep his eyes open and to stay with her, but it's getting harder to do just that.
He smiles faintly at her, hoping she knows just how much he loves her and how much he wishes she never had to see him like that. Never in his life would he ever think that, after all they have been through, this is how he would die, but at least the last thing he sees is her.
When they are finally able to take a breath, they are on a different planet, where Beckett is waiting with his team to triage everyone before going to Atlantis. With a quick glance at Lorne, Beckett already knows it isn't good. Beckett moves quickly and efficiently, and soon they are on their way to Atlantis.
Crossing the gate, Evan is quickly taken away and rushed to the infirmary, with Rosalie following close behind. Once there, and while Beckett takes care of everyone, Rosalie looks around and sees that everyone had made it out alive. Some are injured, but all in all, they are alive and at home. Now the wait begins yet again.
