??? POV
My dad drags me by the wrist from my messy room and out of the house. It was cold and dark out with the only light shining down on us was the street lamp from across our dead grass.
"Dad, what are you-"
"Waiting for your uncle."
"But I don't-"
"He's right there." He points at the black van that had just pulled up on our street. My dad tightens his hand around my wrist and walks us over the dead grass that crumbled beneath our steps and to the van.
"Why am I going with him?" I questioned. "I thought you were going to take me to Dolores' 18th birthday."
"I was but I'm caught up with my business but he'll take you to her house, alright?"
"Alright." I rolled my eyes. "Whatever that business stuff is, tell me."
"You'll be fine." He shrugged off as he opened the front door to the van. It looked almost pitch black in the van but I could see the man in the driver's seat. He seemed pretty big and looked like a drug cartel with his funny looking mustache and the beer belly with the button up shirt. Almost like my dad.
"Hey, take care, darling." He laughs and turns to the guy in the van. "And take care of her, 'ay?"
He laughs with my dad. "Sure, she's my niece. Pretty smart for her age."
"What can I say?" He rests his hands on his hips and looks at me. "She's homeschooled."
"She doesn't seem naive."
"I get around." I commented.
"Really?" He raises his brows. "Usually, it's easy to tell you're homeschooled."
"I guess not." I shrugged until I shivered at the cool breeze that blew past me.
"Why don't you get in?" My dad suggests. "You'll be late for the party."
"Hm- you're right. Thanks, dad." I smiled and kissed his cheek before I finally stepped into the van and shut the door. "I love you."
"I love you, too. Be safe." He yelled out as the man started to drive away. I turn out the window to see my dad waving. So I wave back.
"I will! Bye!" I rolled up the window and buckled myself up.
"Tell me about Dolores, huh?" He asks as he steers the wheel to make a turn toward her house.

Your POV:
March 12, 2004 - 19:00
The sun slowly descends for the day, only casting an orange glow over Osaka. Considering I was under the warmth, I should feel warm yet I clutch my (f/c) jean jacket over my upper body and bury my face in my (f/c) fluffy scarf. I feel as though I should've chosen something warmer than what I left my apartment with; a jean jacket with pins and embroidered patches over it, a hoodie underneath my jean vest with fingerless gloves, a scarf, jeans (that look ripped but aren't), and (p/c) boots.
Yet, I thought my outfit looked good for today since my best friend planned to meet me. Specifically, near a beach. It is quite beautiful with the sparkling waves surfacing back and forth on the sand.
A soft, cool breeze brushed through me like a ghost, making me shiver under my clothes until I heard a high pitched voice call out "Dolores!" Followed by a few giggles before she pulled me in for a hug.
