Chapter 3

The tea consisted of late gossip and rumours. Who's dating who? This guy hooked up with a guy in the school locker room and went viral. Or that one time Selene kissed Mr Craven, our English teacher, as a date and got suspended for such awful behavior. Things that revolve around high school. Looking back, I think I knew more tea than my friends from being observant.

"There he is!"

I had emptied my mug and was making my way to the kitchen when I heard Lily's excited voice.

I stopped dead when the door closed and turned to the sound. Lily had ran up to her twin and is hugging the shit out of him as he lifted her off the ground. "I missed you too, twinny". Mrs King was next in line.

Hunter King AKA 'Lily's twin brother's AKA 'drop-dead gorgeous' AKA 'notorious heartbreaker'. I feel like I'm exaggerating but it's the truth. He has the same features as Lily but a little taller and more masculine.

That wasn't what bothered me, though. It was the fact that Maddy was in the room and uh, we all know he's head over heels for her. And the fact that Luke had a protective arm around her. Of course, not me though, he barely even knew I existed. He doesn't even know my name even though I've been friends with his sister for three years now.

A muscle ticked in his jaw, his fist curling before he sighed a sigh. "I'm tired. I'll be in my room if you ever need me". His voice from last I remembered had changed, resembling a deep one.

"Are you having a stroke?"

I flinched when Killian's voice drew nearer. "I might as well be if you don't step away, mister". His callous hand wrapped around mine and just as I was about to drop the mug, he caught it with a smirk.

"Careful there," he murmured, turning back to the kitchen. I scowled when I heard him laugh away. Such a disease.

The room had grown silent as Mrs King followed after her son. Honestly, I don't blame him. If I came home, glad that I hit puberty and maturity, hoping the girl I liked would like me back only to find out another guy had taken my place, giving her the happiness I couldn't provide, the protection, the love, I'd be so damn pissed, the walls would have to serve as a punching bag. It's like walking on eggshells already.

I still remember that one time, Maddy had gotten her first kiss from a guy while playing 'seven minutes in heaven' in front of Hunter. Poor guy nearly got his face bashed in if it wasn't for Lily's arm around his shoulders holding him back. Dude would've flipped the eff out and what a scene that would be!

Some days I'd catch his eyes across the room ogling her and she was oblivious. I'm just observant.

I dragged myself towards Lily, who's giving Maddy and Luke her sweetest apologetic smile and murmured, "I have to go get ready for that p-party".

And what seems like 5 minutes had passed did she notice me staring at her like she had a giant potato as her head. "M'kay," she sighed, turning to me to give a quick hug. "We'll see you then. Text me when you get home".

I gave her a tight smile, waving a goodbye at Maddy and Luke and made my way out.
