It's been three minutes in the last period which is Math and everyone is acting like they ate a giant pizza for lunch and their stomachs can't hold it in.

Every once in a while, someone runs out for a bathroom pass. Miss Smith throws the duster on her table and turns around from the board to scan her surroundings. I do, too. Apparently I'm her only student.

"You want a hallway pass too?" she asks, grabbing the duster once more and wiping the board a little harsher. "You can skip it if you want. No one really gets mathematics that easily than a teacher.

Nonsense. I understand it well. I mean, how else will I get to college? Math is a must and Miss Smith is my favorite teacher. She's 5'8, slim, has green eyes shining like emeralds and wears her blonde hair in braids. She's the only female teacher in Roosevelt High to wear long pants to school with sweaters. She's not the problem but her students.

Before I could protest, the door burst open. A very panting pale-looking girl with wild curls appears. "Miss Smith, you best come. Somethin's happened. Quick". She runs off.

Miss Smith follows the girl out, leaving me alone with my thoughts. There's a commotion outside but I chose to ignore it. There's a feeling gnawing at my insides telling me that I may regret seeing what's unfolding outside. That's not my crowd anyways. I might be a wallflower all of my school life but I have certain crowds I tend to linger around.

I opt to take out my math textbook when I catch a familiar voice outside. It doesn't take an idiot to know who that voice belongs too. And then follows another chirpy voice, almost in pain. I push my chair back slowly and take my time walking.

My heart pounds at what I'm going to discover outside these white coloured walls. I open the green-coloured door and the muffled sound, covered by the loud ringing of my ears, gets louder. There's a loud chorus of, 'Fight! Fight! Fight!'. The crowd gets thicker as I push my way through.

Just as predicted, the pained voice belonged to Maddy who's crying at how Hunter is not backing up from her boyfriend. Meanwhile, Lily on the other hand is trying her hardest to pull her brother off. There's blood stains on the white floor.

Can't these guys take their business outside? School's gonna be over in an hour anyway. That desperate for a release, huh?

But if Hunter's not going to stop, Luke's gonna end up hospitalised and he'll probably get sued. Doesn't seem like a problem to him either. So I stood there with my arms crossed. Maybe, just maybe then he would get over this Maddy-obsession thing he's got going on. Although, that's not the case right here.

"Hunter,'' I say, my voice coming out as a squeak. Miss Smith has probably gone to get the principal so I guess it's knuckleheads present. "Hunter,'' I say again, hoping my voice is loud enough to be heard. He seemed bothered and kept pummeling Luke's face. That's gonna get pretty ugly.

"Hunter, get off him,'' I speak louder this time, with a lazy tone. Surprisingly, the crowd goes silent and Hunter finally stops. He turns to look in my direction. His eyes soften a bit when he meets mine. I glare back.

"What is going on here?" Mr Malone, the principal, yells with Miss Smith trailing behind him. The crowd parts to show the principal who's responsible. He stands tall, his hands at his waist, "All of you get to class".

"And I want both of you in my office. Now!" he says, anger dripping in his voice. Violence in Roosevelt High isn't taken lightly so he's gotten worked up. The crowd is thinning so he clearly sees us. "Actually,'' he looks at all of us, "You, you and you". He points at Maddy, Lily and I.

"Principal Malone, you completely misread the situ—" I try to save myself.

"Didn't you hear me?" he spits, walking off and his index finger motioning us. Is it too late to run back now?
