𝐇𝐚𝐰𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲
𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏𝟕𝐭𝐡, 𝟏𝟗𝟖𝟔It was a nightmare. Grayson Harrington had another nightmare. This was the third nightmare this Monday morning. The frantic brunette loomed over the plastic pail placed right next to her bed, retching violently. The girl curled her fingers around the dull edges of the white pail. After every gruesome nightmare Grayson had to empty out her whaling stomach.
A loud buzzing sound rang from behind the pale brown eyed teenager. "You did great" a deep male voice boomed with a smile. Grayson tightened her grip on the pail, sinking her finger nails into the flexible plastic. "Time flies when you're having fun doesn't it?" He questioned, flipping through his endless piles of notes.
Grayson stayed silent refusing to acknowledge the pale man standing behind her, observing her worsening condition. The middle aged man placed down his stack of papers by her bedside, glancing around the bare naked walls of her ward. "Is he here?" He asked with curiosity laced through his unnerving voice.
The brunette tilted her head, brushing her tired bloodshot eyes across the rainbow wall standing parallel to the one across from it. Grayson glanced over at the brunette boy slowly shaking his head. Her eyes drifted downwards. "No," she murmured, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. "But he needs to feed"
"We" The man in white corrected with a mere smile. "What?" Grayson furrowed her eyebrows, wetting her bruised lips. He scratched the front of his hand, never once breaking eye contact with the blank rainbow wall. "You tend to dissociate yourself with the other person living up there" he whispered, pointing a fragile finger towards his head.
Grayson Harrington gritted her teeth, feeling the sense of hot anger beginning to pool in her brown eyes. "There is no other person hiding up there" she muttered, slamming her eyes shut. The man lifted his left brow with a small grin. "Living" he repeated, watching the brunette with a careful eye.
"You need to hide your lies better" He warned taking a deep breath before exhaling sharply. "There are people out there who dream about supernatural mistakes like you, Grayson" He lectured berating the broken and remolded brunette. "Polish your lies and walk around without a target behind your back"
The teenager wiped the drop of blood rolling from her mouth. Her eyes glossed over the sliver name-tag hanging from the man's white coat. Connors. That was the sixth new doctor this month. "Maybe the next time we feed, it'll be you who dies, Connors" she threatened watching the man's expression drop into a simple frown.
"I think it's time we part ways for this week" he keened, swallowing thickly before taking a bluish metallic pen out from his coat pocket. "Nightmare?" Connors prompted, lifting his green eyes from the clipboard strung across the walls. Grayson recoiled at the memory flashing through her mind. "Nightmare" she winched, feeling her stomach flip.
