After serving them dinner, I clean their plates and go up to my room. It's been a week since I've first came here and I think I'm adjusting pretty nicely. Cane and I even smile at each other sometimes when he's not busy flirting with all the female workers.
That's what makes him unlikable, he's too cocky, plays with peoples feelings and he's an a-hole to Steven.

I finally land on the floor of my room which is coincidentally next to Cane's and I hear a loud thump, like something had fallen down.
My first instinct is to run in and see what happened, but I deeply regret that as I see him and a girl making out.

Of course they knocked something down.
I froze, I'd no idea what to do so I just-
"Um what are you doing,"the girl said.
"I heard something fall down and my first instinct was to-"
"Next time knock first"
I took a deep breath in and a deep breath out. There's no point in explaining to someone who doesn't understand. I just walk out too tired too even continue the conversation.

I did my nightly routine and decided to start a new book this month. My room is very fancy and had a shelf of books. I close my eyes and randomly chose a book. I'm very indecisive when it comes to decisions like this. I'll read one chapter and then go to bed.

"Tap" "Tap"

I got up hearing some light taps on my door. I open to see Cane.

" Do you need something?" I asked.

"About earlier, I'm sorry for not defending you"

"From what, I am capable of defending myself, there was nothing to defend from"

"You walked out very quickly"

"I walked in on you making out with someone, a different girl from last week by the way and I was tired from working.

" Who I kiss is none of your business"

" Your right it isn't but you're being a douche-bag, do you even care for them?"

"Does it matter? They know I'm only there for fun,"

" No you're playing with their feelings, just because you're going through something doesn't mean you take it out on other people."

He looked very sad when I said that and just walked off. I felt a little bad for him but it was the truth. I went to bed, the scene replaying again and again.

I woke up the next morning tired after our little feud, and I still had to go downstairs and see him. I put on my uniform and walked to the kitchen to start cooking breakfast. I was making pancakes, bacon, and eggs with apple juice. I had the bacon in the oven and was making the pancake batter.

"Can I help," I heard a familiar voice.

Of course I knew who it was.

"Sure," I said and gave him the bowl and spoon.

"I thought about what you said last night and it was nothing but the truth, ever since my mom died and I found out I was leaving for the army I stopped caring about everything."

I listened to him rant.

"I can't sleep at night so I just play and try to be someone I'm not. You asked me if I cared about them and I said no, then I realized what I was truly doing, if someone said that to me I would be deeply hurt."

"So you're going to be better?"

"Yes"

I smiled. "That's great maybe we can even be friends."

"Friends? Sure. I'd like that"

"Also you're stirring the batter wrong, hand it here"
