Forever and Always

Can we just talk

As I walked out to the table,  Cane walked behind me slowly to his table. He's sad because of how I acted. I should explain to him why I'm sad it seems as if one moment I'm vulnerable and the next I'm untrusting again, but I need to break these patterns of mine. I'm trying to say least.

I place their plates one by one, and as Cane sat down, I placed his down and notice the pink ribbon I gave to him before he left was on his ring finger now. We really needed to talk.

"Thank you," he said softly. Now I felt really bad, even though we may not end up together, I'll always care for him deeply.

I went to the kitchen to clean up and then headed up the stairs. I was too anxious to eat, or listen to their conversation. The news would be broken soon enough. As I laid in bed, I got up off my feet and started pacing back and forth with my hands on my hips.

"WHAT", I heard Cane say in a quite furious tone. I could tell he was incensed. Well I guess he was told the news. I opened my door discreetly.

"Using that tone is disrespectful to our guests. You will be married whether you like it or not. This is a matter of the kingdom."

"Father I want to marry out of love, not out of force."

"Nephew that's is rarely possible."

"Father, you and Mother did, and if she were here today she would agree with me."

"DON'T bring your mother up."

Cane POV

I took a deep breath in and exhaled slowly. I excused myself from dinner and went upstairs to find Lila, this is probably why she was so upset earlier. Who wouldn't be. I would if I found out she was marrying someone else.

I walked slowly and defeatedly up the stairs until I saw a pair of brown eyes staring at me through the door crack.

"Were you listening?"

"How could I not? I'm sorry for being upset with you earlier."

"It's ok now I know why you were upset with me. I refuse to get married."

"But what will happen if you don't? He'll force you anyway."

"I'll find a way not to."

"Can we talk."

"Idk if I'm in the mood to."

"Ok we can talk later when you get some rest I'll see you later."
She hugged me gently and I felt so warm and then she walked back into her room.

Lila POV

I can understand why he's upset. I'll let him have his rest. I'll go downstairs and clean now.
I took their plates one by one. The tension in the room made it hard to breathe correctly. As I went to the kitchen everyone exited slowly together.

"I thought you said he wasn't handsome."

"Well, everyone has different tastes I suppose."

It sucks he doesn't want to marry me. I wonder why? I'm the perfect one for him."

"How so?" I said quickly without thinking.

"What do you mean with my background and elegance how could he not fall for me?"

"That's not what love is," I whispered.

"Huh?"

"Oh nothing."

As I was waking back to the kitchen...

"Prince Cane I didn't hear you walk down. Where are you going?"

"To the kitchen I didn't finish my breakfast."

"Oh well you could sit at the table with me, I'd love to learn more about you," she said with a curious gaze.

"There will be no need for that. I have someone that I already care deeply about," he said staring into my soul.

He walked into the kitchen behind me.

"So can we talk now?"
