"There's no way..." He had officially lost it. These people-elves were not real, that wasn't possible. "I-I have to get back to the assembly, it was nice to talk to you."
Isaac needed to talk to Taylor. And quickly.
"So..." Isaac whispered to Taylor after he'd full out sprinted to his seat. "Did you hear about the new kids?"
"New kids?" Taylor asked. "Are they in our grade?"
Honestly Isaac didn't ask, and he had no idea how old they were in the latest book. He hadn't even read it.
"Look, We're sorry we scared you," Someone whispered from behind them. "But you need to get out of here like right now."
It was Keefe.
Keefe. Fucking. Sencen. Was sitting behind him and whispering into his very real ear.
"I'm taking Taylor with me,"
Keefe sighed, pinching his forehead. "I'm gonna assume I can't convince you not to, so fine, but we need to find Foster."
"I'm gonna guess that's one of the new kids?" Taylor asked, sometimes Isaac questioned how she just did everything he asked.
"So, funny story..." Isaac said slowly. "You know that book series I was obsessed with? That's one of the main characters."
Taylor did a double take in Keefe's direction. "That's Keefe isn't it?" She had a very mischievous grin.
"No. Absolutely not." Isaac said. "Do not tell him that. I don't even know if elves know what being gay is."
"Aw come on!" Taylor groaned. "He was like your first crush! That's so cute!"
"He was not my first crush," Isaac insisted. "My first crush was a real person...well a person I knew was real."
"If you say so,"
"Can we please focus on the fact that fictional characters showed up at our school?" He sighed. "And if I'm remembering correctly this is where Sophie went to school when she thought she was human, I think she said something about one of her teachers recognizing her."
"Is that important?"
"Probably, but I don't know anything-"
"Oh come on, you know plenty of things. You have the highest GPA in this school for fuck's sake!"
"Before you very rudely interrupted me, I was going to say I don't know anything about fictional characters showing up to schools."
"At least you know more than Foster did," Keefe came up beside them. "Have you ever wondered why you have the highest GPA here?" A/n I know this is very unnatural but I needed some reason for Keefe to tell them they may be elves
Then it clicked.
Isaac knew exactly why they were here.
But...that couldn't be true. They had the wrong person, or wrong school. Or the wrong something. Because Isaac was most certainly not who they were looking for.
"I don't need Foster to read your mind to know what you're thinking," Keefe said slowly. "But believe me, we have the right person. Or should I say elf."
"Elf?" Taylor repeated. "You're saying my best friend is an elf?"
"And so are you apparently," Keefe breathed. "Because we were speaking the enlightened language."
