"So...couldn't you just do that now?" Isaac asked, turning to Keefe. "That way I can train the abilities to use them against the neverseen?"
"That's why we brought you here," Keefe admitted. "And why she's with us." He stopped aside to reveal who Isaac guessed was Biana.
"I'm a vanisher?" Isaac guessed.
"Yeah..." Keefe trailed off like he was going to continue.
"But you're able to vanish anything you touch without being enhanced." Biana finished for him. "I wouldn't be much help with that unless we got Sophie to enhance me, which we haven't tried since she can control it."
How did they know so much about his ability if he didn't have it yet?
Apparently Keefe didn't have to be a telepath to know what Isaac was thinking. "We talked to Rayni the other day, and she just now decided to show us some scrolls she found during her time with the Neverseen." He explained. "They gave us the plans for project Phoenix, who as you can probably guess, is you."
Who the hell was Rayni?
"You talked to who?"
"Glimmer," Keefe corrected himself. "I don't know how those books work, but I'm guessing they're not up to date then?"
"I wouldn't know," Isaac admitted, running a hand through his hair. "I never read the last book, I was obsessed with them like two years ago."
"Alright, well then let me explain some things that have happened to us recently."
-----------POV change----------
Sophie had told Taylor to concentrate on a weird feeling.
Taylor didn't think the feeling would be this weird. As quickly as Taylor had grabbed Sophie's hand, the feeling was gone.
They had appeared in front of a mansion.
Taylor had many questions, as anyone would. She had gained a lot of basic information of the lost cities through memories from Sophie, but even that wasn't enough.
She was tempted to ask, but didn't feel comfortable enough to.
What if Sophie thought her questions were stupid?
Everyone else-except Isaac always did.
"So..." Sophie said slowly. "I'm not sure where you'll be staying, but I invited Counselor Oralie here, don't worry she's the nice one."
It sounded like she muttered something similar to "I guess"
"We're not sure what your ability is either, we didn't even realize there was another elf with humans until you spoke to us."
Taylor still couldn't believe she was speaking another language without trying.
"Sophie?" A soft voice asked over the breeze. "You said there was somebody you wanted me to meet?"
---------POV change----------
Keefe had mentioned a ton of battles they had fought, yet somehow nobody else had died. Seriously, how advanced was their medicine?
"Are you ready to test out an ability?" Keefe finally asked.
Isaac nodded, he wasn't ready to meet with all the other elves, but he was ready to disappear. Anything to stall meeting the councilors and whoever he was staying with.
Would he even get to say bye to his family?
Not that they would care much either way. He wouldn't be surprised if they forgot about him without having their memories erased.
Keefe took a deep breath. "Vanish."
Isaac felt a weird tingly feeling and looked down at his hand. It was gone.
"Holy shit," He let out a breath. "This is insane!" He couldn't help but laugh.
"I felt so cool when I manifested," Biana told him. "I can't even imagine how this must feel to someone who thought they were human,"
Thought they were human.
He knew it was true but it still hurt.
"Yeah, this is cool and all, but how about you show me how to reappear?" He hoped she could tell he was only half serious, normally he wouldn't care about coming off as nice to people he didn't know. But he kind of did know these guys.
"Then let's teach you the basics of vanishing!" Biana practically squealed.
