14, downfall

A week has passed since the day I promised Kie that I would have the courage to tell JJ how I felt. I haven't left the house for a week. I had no idea what was happening to the minnows. From time to time I talked to my sister, she sometimes told me what they did when I was at home, but something in her stories didn't seem right to me.

I need to find out what's really going on with the minnows. It's time to leave the house and fix a few things.

I had been standing outside the chateau for a good five minutes, calling for John b, but there was no answer. I went inside and started looking around. There wasn't a living soul, no one. There was garbage strewn all over the apartment, pillows and even bed sheets scattered everywhere. It looked like a tornado had passed through here.

I started looking for something that would help me find minnows. I noticed a letter on the table that was addressed to Pope. It was related to his scholarship, which depended on him. I frowned, looking for more clues. I did not find anything. I sighed heavily and ran out of the chateau.

I walked ahead, maybe somehow I'd find some hurdles. I wasn't wrong, I noticed a Twinkie in the distance, John's car. It was standing next to the fence surrounding the airport, what's going on? I ran in that direction, but as I approached the vehicle it drove away. He drove straight into the fence.

"Kate?" I heard.

"JJ." I noticed a blond guy near the metal fence. Kie stood next to him with Pope. "What is going on here?" I asked, approaching the trio.

"Ward wanted to fly away with Sarah." My eyes widened as I saw John b stop in front of the plane, almost causing an accident.

"What is he doing!?" I exclaimed and wanted to run to the man, but JJ's strong hand on my wrist prevented me from doing so. "Let me go!" I was struggling with the blonde.

Suddenly I heard a gun shot. Everything happened so fast, I could barely remember anything.

"Is that Rafe?" I heard my sister.

"And Petekin." Pope added.

"Oh fuck, she's going to die." I said, looking at the rest.

"We can't, we have to get out of here." JJ said, pulling my hand.

"What about John b and Sarah?" I asked.

"They'll be fine, we have to run!" The blonde shouted, and I started running, catching up with the pogues.

I really wanted to help my friends, but I also had to save my own ass. I was hoping John b wouldn't get into trouble.

After some time, we reached an unfinished building. It was wooden and looked like it was about to collapse. I crouched down, hiding my face in my hands, and began to sob quietly because of the helplessness that surrounded me.

"Can you explain to me what finally happened there?" I asked, looking at each of them individually.

"We found gold, but when we were supposed to go back for it, it was gone." Pope began.

"We found out that Ward took everything and wanted to fly away. John b got mad and you saw the rest." JJ finished.

"Why didn't you say anything to me, Kie!" I shouted at my sister as I approached her. "I would've help you."

"You wouldn't be of any help! You're just getting in the way!" She screamed in my face. My own sister wanted to get rid of me, that's why she made up all these stories.

"I can't believe you did this." I muttered under my breath as I left the crumbling building. I turned around for a moment to look at the blonde. "I promised Kie I would do something, so here it is. I love you JJ." I confessed and moved forward, leaving all three of them.

I could still hear JJ and Kie arguing behind me, but I didn't turn around anymore. It didn't take long for me to find John b. He looked tragic and had blood on his hands.

"oh god, John!" I ran to the boy who ran into the middle of the street. "What happened? Whose blood is this?" I started asking the boy questions.

"It's not my blood, it's Peterkin's." He replied, getting confused in his own words.

"And Sarah? What about her?"

"Rafe took her." We were both worried. I told the boy where he could find hurdles that would help him. John b thanked me and headed in the direction from which I had just escaped.
