chapter Twenty

Chapter Twenty.

Two weeks after belle's birth

All of the kids love their new baby sister.

When belle would cry in the middle of the night because she was hungry, john would jump to get her from the bassinet and bring her to marlena
to nurse.

It was a big help to marlena
but she also knew that it was his way of getting another chance to hold her.

As marlena suspected,
belle was a total daddy's girl.

Marlena was sitting on the couch in the living as she holding belle in her arms.

John walked to the couch and
he saw that marlena look tired.

Doc, you look tired, you should go and lay down for a while.

John told her.

Okay.

Marlena said as she get up from the couch and she puts belle in John's arms.

Marlena kissed john on the lips before she head to their bedroom.

John was an amazing father, and marlena know that belle  was well loved and taken care of while with her daddy.

When marlena's head hit the pillow, she realized just how much she needed the few minutes away, she'd soon drifted off to sleep.

John looked down at the bundle in his arms.

"Looks like it's just you and I for
a bit, baby girl.

John said to his daughter and he
kissed the top of her head.

Later that night.

The blissful lull of sleep lasted no more than an hour before belle started fussing, wriggling around between her parents on their bed.

John woke up first, and scooped belle's tiny body into the crook of his arm as he leaning against the headboard.

Marlena's eyes opened and she yawned. "

She can't be hungry already?.

Marlena asked her husband.

she probably just needs some help falling back to sleep,"

John said as he smiled down at belle who was curling into him.

Go back to sleep, princess.

John said to his daughter.

Marlena smiled at him, watching as john gently bounced the baby in his arm.

She feels so safe with you.

Marlena told her husband.

"I always want her to feel that way.

john said softly.

Belle's eyelids fluttered closed, and john kissed the top of her head.

He carefully laid her back down on the safe sleeper and when she didn't budge,

they both nodded in satisfaction.

"Nice work.

Marlena said to her husband.

Thank you.

John said to his wife.

They both fell back to sleep before they could say anything else.

It was just after one in the morning when belle woke up again her soft cry alerting both of them immediately.

Marlena flicked on nightlight on her end table.

A soft, barely there yellow light flooded the room, making it easier to see.

Marlena reached for belle and patted her bottom soothingly.

"Are you hungry, peanut?.

Marlena asked her daughter.

I'll take her.

Johm said and he  swapping belle from marlena's arms to his while she set up to nurse.

Marlena set a pillow on her lap and lifted her shirt, making sure to sit up against the headboard so it would be easier for both of them.

Okay.

Marlena said to her husband.

John handed belle to marlena again, and she hugged belle to her

Marlena guided belle  to her breast.

Belle latched on with relative ease.

Wow, you really were hungry, huh?.

Marlena asked her daughter.

Belle looked up at them, her blue eyes wide and her long, dark eyelashes fanning over her cheeks every time she blinked.

Belle unlatched from marlena's breast.

Marlena handed belle to john.

Alright, burp time again

John said as he holding belle to his chest before patting her on the back.

Marlena smiled when she saw belle staring at the headboard, her cheek on john's shoulder.

They both heard belle burp.

Good job, baby.

John said to his daughter as he rubbing her back.

Belle resting her head on john's shoulder.

How about we try to get some sleep?.

Marlena said to her husband.

"Let's lay her down again, Maybe if you turn off the light and we keep things quiet, she'll get sleepy.

John suggested.

John kissed belle's cheek, then he laid her between them again.

Once belle was settled, marlena flicked off the night light.

Darkness flooded the room, and they both waited in silence to see if belle would get the hint and try to sleep.

as soon as they put their heads on the pillows, belle decided she wasn't ready to settle quite yet.

Belle let out a small, fussy cry, and john pick her up once again while marlena turned on the night light back on.

Shhhh...., i guess you not ready to go back to sleep huh?.

John asked his daughter as he holding her in his arms 

I guess not.

Marlena said her husband.

Two minutes later.

John smiled in satisfaction when
he saw his daughter yawn widely, her little mouth stretching into an O shape and she closed her eyes.

Love you, Isabella.

John said to his daughter and he kissed her cheek.

Marlena kissed belle's other cheek.

Love you, baby girl.

Marlena told her daughter as she looks at john.

I love you.

Marlena said to him.

I love you too, doc,
