Some things never change and yet it's some of the fucked up things that simultaneously stay the same. Back in the year of 2054 humanity had reached both an all time high and all time low. Their population over filled the planet's capacity to the point where they built make shift cities on the surfaces of the oceans they polluted.
Diseases which were once incurable like Cancer, Ischemic Heart Disease, and HIV ran rampant in the most densely populated areas. Religion and Politics like always broke into all out war which tore the earth asunder.
However their technological and biological advances were far beyond anything else during their time. Their scientific advancements set the stage for the new world order. And that world is now populated with Anthromorphs. Humanoid animals which were quickly able to adapt to the horrific conditions left behind by man. Those humans who made it all possible are known as the "Precursors".
When the first of the Anthromorphs came into being they set about fixing all the things that humanity had done to destroy mother earth as well as build off of their technological advancements in medicine, transportation, Recycling and Energy conversion, and modern day living to sustain the new populace.
One of the biggest things that were ridden from the planet were Nuclear Weapons. Any and all arsenals of the old Governments were broken down carefully in order to be used for powering entire cities or countries.
So much had changed and yet so much stayed the fucking same. Kind of like that annoying blaring noise that echoed through my peaceful dreams and brought me back to the real world.
"Ughnnn, fuck the fuck off!"
I muttered groggily with my face still stuffed deep into my memory foam pillow. But immediately after this I was met with three quick knocks at my door.
"Damien are you awake yet?!"
Luna called out as I then covered my head entirely with my pillow."The caller you are trying to reach has a voicemail box that has not been set up yet, goodbye!"
Was my response before she turned the knob and pushed my door open.Luna stood there leaning against the door frame with her arms crossed and her eyebrow raised.
"Really, can you come up with any smart ass remark that's more original?"
She asked as I unburied myself."I'd rather be a smartass then a dumbass."
I shot back with a smirk as I threw my pillow at her.She smiled and let out a small laugh as she caught my pillow.
"Wake up sleepyhead, we have 20 minutes till we have to go or your walking to school."I made the shoo gesture as I swung my legs out of bed.
"Alright alright, give me a few minutes."
She then threw my pillow back at me and whacked me in the face before walking away without another word.Luna Lovejoy has been my best friend and older sister since I was about 6 years old. The first several years of my life were spent in an orphanage and all was great with my newly adopted family up until 2 years ago when a drunk driver veered off into three lanes of oncoming traffic and smashed head first into Mom and Dad's car.
