Chapter 13

"Will she be okay?" Jacob asked as he watched Laura asleep on the bed, holding her hand slightly. "It might've just been the cold air, especially after the injury she's in dire. She just needs to rest." The doctor said, walking out of the room. Jacob sighed in relief at that piece of information before placing a kiss on the back of Laura's hand. The sound of bells outside could be heard which alerted him.

He gently placed her hand down, getting up from the chair and leaving the room to let her rest. As Jacob walked out on deck, he made his way up to where Captain Crow stood. "The whole world will know what we've done, me boy. This ship, your ship, will live on. Nothing can stop it." Crow said to Jacob.

"Open the gates!" Guards shouted to one another. As the ships sailed forward, the gates opened slowly, revealing the palace once again. Castle Whiterock.

As the people started to crowd, the king and queen exited onto their balcony, wondering what all the ruckus was. They stood there in shock to see the Inevitable, pulling of the giant Red Beast with them.

The crows cheered with glory at the sight before their eyes of the creature.

"That'll do, Ms. Merino," Crow spoke.

"You heard the captain. Drop anchor!" She responded, relaying the message to the crew.

The King and Queen both glanced at one another, before speaking up. "Captain Crow. Well, it looks like we have our winner." The Queen said. "When I last visited Whiterock, you told me the days of hunters were over. But the Imperator was no match for the beast." He said, walking over to the boat and onto Red's horn, making his way down.

"All of your wealth and power, all of this is nothing compared to a hunter's fury!" Crow shouted as he walked down Red's body. "And it's the Inevitable what will lead the way into the Dregmorr and beyond. Until the bones of every one of them beasts lies at the bottom of the sea!" He said, raising the lance, ready to stab it into the red.

The sound of quick footwork making its way to crow was heard. "Stop!" Laura shouted as she ran towards Captain Crow with her sword.

"Laura!" Jacob shouted, quickly rushing to go after her as he was still on the ship and she was inches away from Crow.

Crow swung the lance at her, knocking the sword from her grip before smacking her away with the back of his hand, knocking her to the side. Laura fell over on her side, struggling to get up. Her vision was dazed, already weak from her injuries. "A pity.." Crow muttered. He said, lifting the lance to stab her.

"Captain!" Jacob shouted. Crow turned his attention to Jacob.

"Jacob, get back on the ship," Crow said.

"Look at what you're doing. You would kill the princess, for this..this creature!?" Jacob shouted. "You dishonor me, boy. As you dishonor all them hunters what comes before. All of them were heroes. Nothing will get in my way of killing this beast and neither will she." He said.

"Aye, they were heroes. But you can be a hero and still be wrong." Jacob said. Crow growled, his grip tightening on the lance to where you could hear it crackling.

"Now give me the lance," Jacob said, reaching his hand towards Crow. "I thought of you as a son." Crow started, dropping the lance to the side before reaching for his sword on his belt, and pulling it out. "But I don't know you."
