Laura's Pov
"Jacob, can you help me with this?" I asked as I tried to reach the fruit in the tree hanging above my head. Tiptoing didn't get me to it and jumping never helped either. Jacob chuckled as he watched me for a few seconds, struggling to grab the fruit. "Jacob.." I stopped, turning to look at him.
"Alright alright." He approached. I yelped as he picked me up onto his shoulder and I immediately grabbed the fruit. "Thank you," I said as I slid down back to the ground, smiling at him.
"Anything for you, freckles." He said before taking the fruit from my grasp. "Hey!"
The door to our house opened and Maisie ran out. "Oh? You seem to be in a hurry." I said, watching her. "I have to get going to school or I'll be late!" She said, jogging in place. "Here you go, kiddo," Jacob said tossing Maisie the fruit I picked. She caught it, ready to run off.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" I asked her. She ran up to the both of us, hugging us tightly. "I love you both!" She giggled and ran off quickly.
"Be careful!" Jacob shouted.
Once Maisie was gone, I nudged Jacob before crossing my arms. "Ow! What?" He asked. "I was going to eat that," I said as I was craving the fruit.
He pulled me in closer and smiled deviously. "Let me make it up to you." He said. "Fine, but you get me more fruit later," I said, placing a kiss on his cheek. He picked me up in his arms, carrying me towards our house. "More fruit for you and more fruit for me, the special kind at that." He said, chuckling.

That day at Castle Whiterock, my world was saved, and with that, the world began to change. No ship would ever sail the Dregmorr again and the mysteries beyond would remain undisturbed. I don't think about it much though. Everyone is safe and I have everything I need right here.
