I'm sat next to Adam who has his head in his hands and his shoulders are bouncing up and down to his quiet sobs.
Violet walks around the corner and Jason's arm is around her. Her face is red and puffy and her mascara has trailed down her face.
I launch up towards Violet who leaps onto me and buries her head in my chest. Jason stands there, looking at me but not having enough energy to do anything. He looks next to Adam where JJ lays.
A tear falls down his face and he turns around rapidly, wipes his face and leans against the doorframe.
Violet's hands are linked behind my lower back and her hair is trailed down my torso. "shh" I coo, rubbing her back.
She lets go of me slowly and walks up to JJ, swiping her hand on Adam's, causing him to look up and fake a smile. He looks towards me and I nod my head towards him and he nods back.
She crouches next to her brother and kisses his hand, sobbing as she begins to take his rings off each finger. She shoves them in her pocket and then pulls of his necklace.
She gently stokes his hair and leans in to kiss his temple. "Good night, brother" she cries then runs past me and wraps her hands around Jason's waist.
He grabs a handful of her hair in one hand and holds her hip in the other. They both sob quietly into each other.
I walk to Adam and sit down next him. Before I could spill out a word he beats me. "Can you drive me home?" he mutters.
"of course" I reply and I take out my keys and he follows me out of the door, past Violet and to the exit.
"What am I going to do with her, Cori?" he asks. I make eye contact with him then stare at my feet. "I don't know" I reply.
"She can't live here, I'm going to college soon and William has a baby on the way, he'll leave the house to his family." Adam explains.
How awful is that? Violet has just found a home and now she's being evicted. What is she going to do?
"She'll move in with Jason" I blurt out. Adam shoots his hand in front of my stomach and I stop.
"What?" he says in a concerned tone. How can he be so clueless? "It's obvious she likes him, Adam. You think I want her to stay with him?" I ask.
He clears his throat. "She doesn't know what he's done to us." he sighs.
Trust me, I know.
