"Char, I'm home and I brought food." Emilie's voice echoes through the hall as the door closes. Stretching in my desk chair, I finally decided to get up and away from my computer. Walking towards the kitchen and living room, the air smells delicious. "Oh Em you are a life saver." I waste no time digging in and cracking open a can of soda.
"Jesus Charlotte, relax the food isn't going anywhere." Emilie laughs and I can't help but give her the finger in response with a mouthful of food in my mouth. "Busy day?" I nod my head. My phone screen lights up as it pings with a notification of a message. Glancing at my phone, I see that it's another message from Jack.
In the last few hours, we've talked back and forth getting to know each other and sending each other stupid posts and videos. He seems like a really nice guy and it's so easy to talk to him. A smile must be gracing my face as I read the message, which Em seems to notice. "Who's got you smiling at your phone?" I pause, realizing that so much, but so little has happened since she left this morning.
"So I have a little update, which was an unexpected development of last nights interaction." She looks at me as if to encourage me to keep going, "Umm Jack actually DM'd me a few hours ago and we've been talking since." Her jaw drops.
"What?! How did he find your Instagram? What did he say?" I spend the rest of our meal telling Emilie all about the messages and anything I've learned about him.

"Luke, why would you tell Quinn about Charlotte?" I'm not mad at Luke for telling Quinn because eventually Quinn would've probably found out anyway. He thinks something might come out of this, but for now, a friendship with Charlotte would be enough for me. She's a pretty girl and she seems really sweet. "Jack if I didn't tell Quinn then how are we supposed to help you? We need as much reinforcement as possible when the time comes." His words are honest and I know he's serious.
"As much as I appreciate the thought, Luke, Charlotte and I are just friends and that's probably all it's going to be for a while." Luke seems to be reading my face trying to catch me in a lie. "J, we both know that you most likely have feelings for Charlotte so don't give me that friend crap. Quinn and I are going to help you whether you like it or not." Knowing how determined Luke can get, I just decide to give in to he and Quinn's help in the future.
An hour later, after a long Facetime call with Quinn, both of my brothers have some how convinced and encouraged me to ask Charlotte to hang out on Tuesday to get to know her a little more, in person this time. The idea of asking her to hang out makes my heart beat slightly faster. Picking up my phone, I cross my fingers and silently hope that she'll say yes.
