Author's Note: Before she became the great SWAT officer we all love, Officer Christina Alonso was an outstanding officer in the K9 Unit, alongside her loyal companion and partner, Champion. Both worked in sync! It was as if they knew about each other from head to toe! Read to find out their closest call!

"Hey Chris! How's your back?" the older gentlemen greeted on the other line.

"Doing better, boss. Thank you!" young Officer Christina Alonso answered, while juggling the dog leash and her car keys.

She stuck the phone between her ear and shoulder fast enough to hear her boss say, "Well, I just got notice of the department's physician and the hospital papers. Stay home and rest up."

She nodded slightly, then responded, "Yes, sir!"

"Good job out there yesterday. FBI wont ever say thanks but we know if it wasn't for you and Champ, they wouldn't be gloating on national TV." the man said frustrated.

"Yeah."

"Alright, well. Get well and I'll see you soon!"

"Yes, sir! Thank you."

CLICK

It was a regular Wednesday morning. Her place was a mess, so much so that even the dog felt cramped. She figured after yesterday's call, they both could use some pampering. After getting up later than usual and feeling some discomfort in her lower back, she decided to take advantage of the free day to run some errands. She popped a couple of pain meds and headed out the door.

SLOSH SLOSH

Champion, her K9 companion, shook his body violently, then turned to her with a sad face.

"I know, bud. I know. You stink. Bath time is coming soon." she said, patting him and giving him soft kisses. "I shouldn't bend and make sudden movements today. I'm still hurt, remember?"

BARK BARK

She listened attentively, then turned to him, grabbing his head gently. "I'll figure something up, ok?"

RIIIIING RIIIINNNG

Before she had a chance to leave, her cellphone was heard. She searched through the mess on the couch until she spotted the device. A wide smile spread across her face when she read the name on the screen.

"Hey, you!" she said enthusiastically.

"Hey, girl! How are you?" a young lady answered in the other end.

"Doing good. And you?"

Chris couldn't help to blush. She was in awe Tracy was calling. She could've sworn she hadn't left a good impression, but it seems she did. They met in a chill out place just last weekend. The young officer had had a couple of drinks and may have said a couple of rude things to one of the guys in Tracy's circle, especially when joking about horse therapy being legit.

"I am doing just fine, thank you. I was wondering-"

"Yeah?"

"You said you have a dog, right?"

"Um...well, kinda. He's not a pet. He's a K9 in the police. We're partners."

"Ok, ok. But...you still need to care for him, right? Or does he crash in the police station?"

"No, he lives with me. He's my responsibility but we work together."

"That's cool. So-" she paused, "One of my friends -Tyler- is opening a pet shop and grooming saloon down at Pitcourt Avenue. I'm heading there to help her setup and stuff. Was wondering, if you're free..."
