when yujin said that they were alone, he wasn't lying.

but when he said that they were alone for a while... well he never said that. but Fyona was more than sure that it had been a while.

she looked out to the night sky, it was black and sprinkled with hundreds of stars. they shone brightly while looking down at her, showing off their freedom to fyona.

fyona scoffed at what her head was making up and continued staring at the darkness above her. suddenly, her eyes trailed a bright white light moving to the right. her brows rose as the childish part of her brain assumed it was a UFO and that it was watching over the humans just like the hundreds of videos and documents written and made by people filled with theories she had read and watched about when younger. Still, the saner part of her head told her it was just a satellite moving to their controlled destination and nothing more.

but that did not help the weird idea she suddenly came up with as the little light continued floating steadily toward the right. her eyes moved down from the white light and trailed the long untrimmed grass. her eyes followed the two long lines with no grass growing on them and could only be assumed as the lane the men in here used to drive their vehicle back and forth.

escape.

the voice in her head told her.

escape. now.

without a second thought, fyona got on her feet. she didn't know what had come over her but she didn't remember the last time she was filled with this much determination to escape. quickly, she moved to the door while praying inside that it was not only an illusion when yujin dropped her lunch in her room and left without locking the door.

her hand clasped on the handle and she twisted it very softly. when she pulled the door open just lightly, it cracked a little space to see the other side of the door. a silent cry of relief escaped her as she went back into her room to grab a jacket from the closet.

once she was dressed, she opened the door again, this time with enough space for her to walk through. she closed it silently behind herself and as if she were a feather, walked through the hallway and to the double door that led to the stairwell, not even daring to breathe a little too loud.

but a pang of realization washed over her as she saw the little code box beside the door. she may have been able to escape from her room but cannot go past the double doors.

realization hit her. this was a game, a fucking maze made to trap the ones meant to not leave. even if she did go past the lock of the room she was caged in, there was still so much more security to go past. there was no way out. it was over before it could even start.

she panted, suddenly out of breath as if she had run a marathon. She was going to drop to her knees and cry out when another idea made its way into her head. maybe it wasn't completely over.

she quickly ran towards yujin's room and stood silently for a few seconds as she collected herself. fake tears rained from her eyes, which wasn't exactly hard to do considering the fact that she was going to have a breakdown just seconds ago. it instantly made her nose and cheeks red. She wiped them away and looked down before knocking once on his door.

not even a second later, the door swung open. yujin's eyes widened in shock at seeing a presence he least expected. "fyona?" he was filled with questions. why was she here? why did she want to talk to him now? how did she even get to him?- but he couldn't ask any questions when he saw droplets of tears escaping her eyes when she tilted her head just slightly to show him her face.

"I-i need some air." her voice cracked at lack of usage and it caused a knot of guilt in Yujin's stomach.

without a second thought, yujin held her shoulder and led her down the stairs, and through the millions of security codes she knew she couldn't have passed without someone already living here until they stepped outside.
