3 AM

"Yuh neva have nobody else fi call?" he questions me, lifting up his right brow.

Second time him ask mi dis enuh...

He holds open the front door of the police station, allowing me to walk out first, and he follows behind me.

The parking lot is practically empty, the only cars in sight being his and two police vehicles.

"If mi did have someone else fi call, then yuh wouldn't be here" I snap back sarcastically, rolling my eyes.

Why him ah mek dis harder than it already is.

"Feel like ah lie yah tell"

Well duh!

Nearly bawl when di other call dem nuh go through.

Mi hate DND warriors.

"Ah true sumn? Or was it that no one else picked up?" he inquires, grabbing onto my arm to stop me in my tracks.

If mi tell him di truth him aguh laugh afta mi.

Mi already reach mi shame limit fi di night...

Even though I wanted nothing more than to shift the conversation, it was becoming increasingly clear that he was going to continue to push for an answer.

"Okay Cyrus"

"You want the truth?" I ask, admitting defeat.

"Di whole truth" he asserts, his hand still holding firm on my arm.

Betta mi juss get dis ova wid.

Cause him worse dan di fucking detective dem weh question mi.

"No one else picked up" I admit, avoiding eye contact with him.

Mi shame!

Shame ah kill mi!

"That's all you had to say, what was so hard about that?" he questions, loosening the grip he has on me.

It wasn't that easy to admit.

My arm drops to my waist, and soon my eyes find their way to meet his.

"Now yuh haffi tell mi how di hell dem arrest yuh" he laughs.

"Cause di amount ah string mi did haffi pull fi dem release yuh tonight, mean seh yuh do sumn crazy"

Crazy was an understatement.

My behavior tonight was that of a clinically ill woman.

Sumn seriously wrong wid mi.

He grabs hold of me again, this time he places my hand in his as he leads me towards his car.
