I can feel my blood boiling, my body begins to heat up as my temper rises.

The scenes from the fight flashed around in my mind, as I try to calm myself down.

I know me...

Mi nuh fraid fi act like mi head nuh screw on right.

I'm pacing the living room floor, my brain working in overdrive, to the point where I have to talk out loud to stop getting overwhelmed.

I thought we all knew that fighting at your daughter's birthday party is never called for.

Or should I say getting your ass beat?

"Yah guh stan up and talk to yuhself whole night?" Melody questions in a soft voice, worry written all over her face.

Lailah is still set on her hip, completely preoccupied with the small Barbie doll in her hands.

Ignorance is bliss.

"Is either that or me go back out deh and cuss and galang bad wid miself" I retort quickly, kissing my teeth.

Yuh upset wid di wrong somebody enuh miss...

"Mi understand seh yuh angry, but doh project pon mi Rai, memba seh mi deh pon yuh side" Mel replies in a soft voice, her warning still evident.

Yuh see wah happen when yuh too likkle bit and nuff?

"Yuh can war with everybody else, but ah begging yuh fi choose peace wid mi" she says.

She's right.

She's always right.

Kendall's body emerges from the edge of the room, and she doesn't hesitate to chime in once she's scoped out the scene.

"People ah ask fi yuh Sarai, yuh ready fi guh back out?"

"Mi honestly nuh feel like it enuh...right now all mi ah see ah red" I tell her honestly, expressing an exasperated sigh.

I retreat towards the couch, setting my body down in a huff as I sink deep into the cushions.

Mi head a hot mi.

I rub at my temples, massaging gently to ease the pressure.

A still silence begins to fill the room, Kendall and Melody exchanging sneaky looks at each other, caught up in a secret conversation that I was only a witness to.

Once they've wrapped up their silent affair, they turn their attention back to me, each finding seats on opposite sides of the couch.

"How about this," Melody calls out, I take Lailah from her holding her cradle-style in both my arms.
