By next week, we're still stressed but slowly we make adjustments to our daily routine to adhere to our new changes. Trina and I go to the doctor and once again confirm her pregnancy while Niquey is getting ready for an evaluation with a psychiatrist after her first visit with our mother.

I did see her, I didn't want to but I did to make sure Niquey will be okay. That woman started shedding tears as if she missed us and I just froze from the discomfort. Niquey wasn't happy and very uncomfortable with her but she said she wanted to try since she seemed nice. Fortunately, with the social worker standing watch, Niquey spent her visit nicely while Trina and I made our way to the clinic.

Talking to the doctors told us how dangerous the pregnancy was since it seemed Trina didn't take care of her body all too well. At close to two and a half months, she was still within the first trimester and very sensitive.

She doesn't sleep well, she doesn't rest well and she only had a portion of the amount of nutrients she needed for the amount of activity she usually had. And all that put together made her at risk of a miscarriage if she continued to overwork herself. But the heartbeat!

Oh the heartbeat! The moment we both heard it for the first time, I nearly broke down. It was fast but weak, pitter-pattering well but not very strong for how it should be. When I looked at Trina, she held the same face as me, close to tears but in awe. It was over. From then, that baby had us.

But more time passes by with little visits that Niquey doesn't want to go on, psychologists and specialists to help Niquey talk about what she really wants and me avoiding my mother. Soon enough, we're magically looking at ourselves one month later. Ready to go to court one last time over Niquey's adoption.

"What bout the baby?" she asks next, finishing her last few bites of breakfast potatoes.

She found out a few weeks ago when she asked why I kept stopping Trina from lifting everything, including her. She was mad to not be carried until I told her Trina was pregnant and all of her anger dissipated into happiness to be a big sister. She has been attached to Trina by the hip ever since, even more so than usual, and going to sleep almost every night on my chest to watch Trina and talk to me about her little kid thoughts in little kid whispers.

"What about it?" Trina retorts, already done with hers and just waiting for Niquey to finish.

"When can I hold the baby's hand?" she asks, twisting and turning in the seat.

"Just a few more months babygirl," Trina says, rubbing her stomach that depicts a small lump where her abs used to be tight. I don't know how I didn't notice when it was fresh but her lower stomach definitely protrudes more now.

"I'm excited," she squeals, still twisting and turning.

"Nique, go to the bathroom." I stand up and help her slide out of the bench. The little girl runs off to go while I laugh with Trina. A second passes as I just sit and stare at Trina with us both having content and happy smiles on our faces. "... just a few more months is crazy, Trina. We have nothing planned!" I fall back with a sigh.

"I know but let's focus on securing court today." She says with a smile, watching me slide to the floor on my knees across from her.

"Mhm. That's fine baby. Then we'll look for night classes to take together." I mumble, crawling up to her to lay on her chest and kiss her cheek.

We talked about it and we both want to go to business school to learn stuff online without it being overly difficult on time or pressure. But we have to kind of commit to it for a while and start building on our place sooner.

I've already brought home lumber and tools from work to try building another table in the basement but it's taking a while to figure out how to really get into it. I also switched my work location to a different warehouse so I don't have to go to the city anymore after Niquey switched schools. Though, that might not happen depending on what happens today...
