The charms exam sucked, but I know for a fact that I didn't fail. It was more boring to sit there and answer questions than it was difficult to complete. I come off super nonchalant about my grades, but the truth is I care a lot. Getting any failing marks devastates me because I know I'm capable of doing well.
The worst part of the test was watching other people struggle. We had to do the Impervius Charm which makes things waterproof, but a fellow Hufflepuff, Misty, somehow ended up conjuring a rain cloud instead.
The written part wasn't difficult either. All we had to do was determine the origins of the charm and the uses for them.
It's finally the part of the day where we get to get ready for tonight's party. I decided on a short black dress – my go to when I don't feel like picking out an outfit. I lace up my boots as I talk to Talia.
"Oh Merlin," Talia laughs, "I completely forgot to tease you about it!"
"About what?" I furrow my eyebrows at Talia.
"Cormac," Talia says in a duh-tone. "You guys were totally dancing together at the Slytherin party a couple weeks ago!"
A blush creeps up my neck as I recall the so-called dancing we were doing, "It was just a couple of dances."
Talia scoffs, "Ellie, you guys were basically dry humping."
I cover my face with my hands in embarrassment. "Stop. You remember how poor our relationship was, I was just using him as a distraction."
Talia immediately stops putting her shoe on and stares at me. "From what?"
"Huh?" I ask her.
"You said a distraction," Talia smirks, "a distraction from what? Or should I be asking, who?"
"Quit it," I throw the nearest pillow at her. "Quit your smirking, you know."
"I just want to hear you admit that you're hot for a certain Weasley boy," Talia sings at me.
"He has a girlfriend," I remind her, bringing her back down to Earth.
"For now. You can always wait your turn."
I walk out of the room without answering, knowing she'll follow me either way. The entire walk to the Gryffindor room she's singing, "Ellie's got a cru-ush."
We get into the room after 5 minutes of waiting. I guess even though Talia's dating one of the boys, we don't get the privilege of skipping the line. Talia also refuses to tell Nathan when we're here so we can "make an entrance."
We get our drinks before trying to find anyone, and weirdly enough, we find Nathan alone. I don't ask where Fred and George are because the teasing from Talia just ended.
"There's some people playing some muggle drinking game," Nathan informs the two of us, pointing in the direction of the game. "You guys should go play."
Talia loves drinking games, so she drags me over to the table where there are a whole bunch of cups and ping pong balls being thrown into them. Beer pong. Talia calls next for her and I, and we wait for one of the teams to win. Each team has one boy and one girl on it.
We eventually get to play, and Talia proves to be very good at throwing the ball into the cup. Our cups are filled with firewhiskey, and I can feel myself becoming tipsy after three balls go in our cups and I take the shots.
As the other team is shooting, I glance around to see who's around. My eyes catch Fred and George talking in the corner close to us. Fred's sporting his usual stressed-out face, and George is handing him a bottle of firewhiskey that he's downing.
Talia and I end up winning one game, and losing the next. As soon as we lose, she asks if she can play with Nathan the next time she's on the table, and obviously I tell her yes.
I decide to get more alcohol and then go dance. I'm about to walk away from the alcohol table when a hand is placed on my waist. I smile and turn around, but feel less happy when I see Cormac smiling back at me.
"Hi, Ellie," Cormac says in my ear so I can hear him over the music. "Do you wanna dance?"
I nod, seeing as that's just what I was about to do, and let him lead me to the area, once again. He latches onto my body quickly, holding my waist as my arms rest on his shoulder.
"How've you been?" He asks.
I shrug, "Fine, I guess. You?"
"Great now," Cormac smiles cheekily.
We dance until I need more alcohol, and Cormac follows me as I go to get more. Once my cup is full, he takes my hand and leads me to the back wall instead. I lean against it as he stands in front of me. Without saying anything, and he was never much of a talker, Cormac leans down and slams his alcohol tasting lips on mine.
I kiss him back, putting one arm around his neck, the other hand still holding my cup. We make out against the wall for a couple of minutes. His mouth disconnects from mine, but he doesn't move far.
"My room?" He whispers hungrily.
Within minutes, I find myself lying on his bed with him on top of me, his mouth traveling south quickly.
