"Are we all ready?" Minho counted the kids, and his former team, as they went out the door and drove to the closest restaurant.
"Can you please quiet your baby down?! This is exactly why kids shouldn't be having kids!" The lady in the booth closest to them turned around, glaring at Jeongin.
"Sorry ma'am" Jeongin blushed, getting Seojin out of the baby seat and holding him. The baby quieted instantly.
"We'll wait outside" Jeongin tried to hide the tears in his eyes but he knew his hyungs saw it. And unfortunately for that lady, even though Jeongin was an adult with a kid, he was still Stray Kids' maknae and his hyungs had a reputation for being protective.
"You all go on outside. I'll pay and get the food boxed up" Chan shooed all his dongsaengs, kids, nieces and nephews out of the restaurant. They hurried to the bus, getting their kids settled before crowding around their baby maknae. Jeongin was crying now, still holding tightly to Seojin, who looked a little confused why his appa was hugging him so tightly and crying.
"It's okay Innie, she doesn't know anything. Don't listen to her" Hyunjin comforted his brother.
"She was right though. I was too young to be having a kid and now look at me! I don't know what I'm doing!" Jeongin knew the lady was right and he had to agree with her.
"Dude, you are literally almost twenty-nine. You are old enough to have a one year old, so don't go beating yourself up" Jisung pointed out. Jeongin just stared at him with watery eyes.
"No one my age has a kid" Jeongin argued but it was weak.
"That's not true. Chan-hyung had Aria when he was twenty-four" Minho interrupted.
"Yeah, most of us were not that much older than you. We may have been even younger than you are" Chan nodded. Jeongin had to admit, he felt a little bit better now.
"Thanks guys. Can we go home now?" He asked.
"Yeah, we'll eat at home" Chan nodded and Minho started driving. They ate quietly at home and then it was the hardest part of the night: bedtime. Luckily, there was a lot of rooms and bathrooms in the house, so baths went a little quicker, especially since most of the kids didn't all have to go to bed at the same time and were old enough to get their own showers.
Jeongin was being careful as he sprinkled water over his son's head, wetting Seojin's hair. The baby was watching him with wide eyes, sucking on his thumb. His eyes would drift closed for a moment before popping back open as if they had never closed. Occasionally, he would start to babble something but Jeongin would just shush him and keep washing his son.
"How is it going in here?" Chan peeked in, smiling at the sight of his maknae being so loving and gentle. It would never fail to amaze him how the sixteen-year-old he had known in the beginning of Stray Kids was now almost thirty and with a child. Jeongin finished with the baby bath and began to get Seojin dressed, giving Seungmin his turn to get Rejin cleaned up.
"All done. I'm going to feed him and then hope that he falls asleep quickly" Jeongin carried the baby to the nursery, sitting down in one of the two chairs that were there. Another chair was set on the other side of the room, for Seungmin. He propped a bottle up against his chest, securing it with his hand and waited for Seojin to latch on. It took longer than he would have liked for his kid to fall asleep but finally, Jeongin was setting Seojiin down in his crib and sneaking out of the room.
"Your an amazing dad, you know that?" Changbin caught him, slinging an arm around Jeongin's shoulders.
"Your just saying that because of what happened earlier" Jeongin scoffed, pushing his hyugns arm off.
"Well yes, but I'm also saying it because it's true. I just saw what happened in there and how you kept him from crying. You got him to sleep faster than any of us were able to with our kids. That takes some real skill" Changbin pointed out. Jeongin ignored him, though it did make him feel better, and went to his own room. He really hoped that Seojin slept the whole night but it was just his luck that, not even ten minutes later, he had to get up again to take care of the maknae.
