Chapter 9

Lavender's pov.

For once I was looking forward to coming home from school.  At lunch nearly all my friends, the ones I still had anyways were supper jelly of the lunch Sebastian had made me. I swear this guy had no idea on how to make anything not fancy. I'm not going to complain I mean how many kids can say their stuffy butler brother in law made them a fancy lunch of salad, stake, mashed potatoes, grilled corn, some kind of juice as well as tea to go with the freaking amazing German chocolate cake that I'm almost positive Selene had made in the middle of the night. My friend Danny he tried to steal my cake can you believe that? This is the first cake my sister has made in our house in forever. I liked collage and all but still it was nice to have my sister around. Anyways my friends Danny, Margret, Tammy, Robert, Sara and Lura were all coming over to have a study date. They were all happy that I was so excited that my sister was home. When we got home Max was helping mom clean something but the moment my friends see him they all aww at him. Max shies away from them and runs to the kitchen making me frown a little. "Who was the cute little guy?" Lura asks me as she throws her arms around my neck hanging off my back. "That was Maxwell my nephew." I say feeling the proud smile on my face. Once the front door was closed the smell of the cookies mom, Selene and I would make fills the house once again.

"Selene are you making cookies?" I ask as I lead the way to the kitchen only to see Selene and Sebastian doing a waltz in the kitchen to some old fashioned music. Her boss Ciel was sitting on a chair lazily tapping his finger in time with the music watching my sister and her husband and Max was trying to take a cookie off the cooling rack. "Maxwell put that down they are still hot." Selene says without looking at him and he gives a small huff putting it back with an annoyed sigh. "Mum how do you do that?" He asks her making Sebastian laugh a little. "Your mum has done that to me plenty of times I still do not know how she knows such things." Ciel says as he walks over to Max and pats him on the top of him head. "Selene what the hell are you doing?" I ask making Sebastian spin Selene so she could look at me. "Dance lessons. Ciel has to know how to act in court. How did you like your lunch?" Selene asks before she was spun back to face Sebastian who gives a small smirk. "Danny tried to steal my cake." I say a small pout on my face as well as a blush. I had a small crush on Danny.

"Hey it's not my fault that the cake smelled so great." Danny says as he rubs the back of his neck looking at the ground. "Your sister stayed up most of the night making that for you. She said it was your favorite. It would be a shame if someone else was to eat it after all the work she put into it." Sebastian says as he glances up at me before he stops moving making my sister look up at him. He was glaring at Robert. I glance over at Robert to see he was glaring right back at him. There was a beep letting us know the cookies were done and Selene walks over to get them but she gives an unsure look over at Sebastian who had pulled Max over onto the other side of the kitchen as if to protect him from someone. "Lavender may I speak with you alone?" Sebastian asks and I notice Selene shot me a look that said to behave. I had a feeling that Sebastian was not the kind of man you wanted to make your enemy. "Sure. Why don't you guys head up to my room?" I ask but mom walks in. "No boys upstairs." Mom says before motioning to the kitchen table that Ciel was no longer at. In fact he was standing next to Selene helping her out. He was mumbling something under his breath making my sister give a small laugh at him.

"Ok mom." I say before placing my bag on the table before walking over to Sebastian to see what he wanted. He gently takes my hand leading me into the back yard before he lets me go and looks me over slowly. "How long have you known that boy?" Sebastian asks as he glances at the window that you could hardly make anything out seeing as how Sebastian had lead us to the fence so it was the furthest point from the window. "Robert?" I ask making him nod his head quickly and I frown a little. I had meet him the year Selene went missing, around the time I had supposedly been kidnapped. I still don't remember that happening. "Ummm..... Since the year Selene went missing so about nine or ten years. Is something wrong with my friends?" I as feeling a little angry at the way Sebastian was acting towards my friends. "I see. I'm sorry if I seam hostile to him. He just reminds me of someone I knew." Sebastian says his eyes taking a dark look at the  thought of whoever it was. "Who?" I ask and Sebastian frowns a little. "The man that took your sister when she was pregnant with Maxwell.  He wanted you sister for himself. But that is no longer a problem after all I killed him." Sebastian says making me give him a shocked look. Sebastian had killed a man.
