While many of our tales involving the Teen Titans have begun with a looming threat, this one instead starts on a positive note for once. We open on Jump City Central Park, a vibrant area of the vast metropolis. It was quite picturesque: birds sang, kids played, families and young couples enjoyed picnics underneath the shady trees, nothing could possibly make it better. Actually, I just thought of something that could....
Cyborg: Four and a half pounds of baby back ribs!
Three of our heroes sat around a picnic table, snacking away on all manner of grilled delights. While Cyborg was eating ribs, Devan had made a solitary game of Jenga out of a large stack of chili fries, somehow managing to keep the tower balanced despite the rapid amount he was eating at once.
And while they had actual food, Starfire appeared to be drinking something from a yellow cup...actually, no. She just unscrewed the top off of a mustard container and was drinking it with a straw.
Cyborg: Man, I LOVE picnic food!
Starfire: Agreed, Cyborg. (Flushes happily.) This tangy yellow beverage is truly delightful!
She swigs some more of it. Realizing what she was doing, the two boys stop scarfing down their food to stare in surprise.
Cyborg: Uh, Starfire?
Omni-Boy: That's...mustard.
Starfire: Is there more?
The boys stare on, a shred of meat can be seen falling from Cyborg’s mouth in the stillness, and Devan's "Chili Tower" fell over and splattered his face with cheese, jalapenos and chili beans. Close by the three, a grill was set up with two pale looking hotdogs, which are swiftly swiped into buns by the vegetarian we all know and love.
Beast Boy: Sweet! My tofu dogs are cooked to perfection.
