Episode Three

This was the debt she had owed to her parents, and by god, she wouldn't let them down. She will change the world no matter what had to be sacrificed: her body, mind, soul.

"Straighten those spines piss-ants! The 104th Cadet Corps boot camp starts now!" Y/n did as instructed, lifting her chin high as she kept her attention focused on the man

"Allow me to introduce myself." He was bald and tall, with a distant look in his eyes, one Y/n had only seen in Shiganshina when the scouts came back from a mission

The eyes of someone who's seen life fizzle into nothing. "I'm commandant Keith Shadis! And you will grow to hate me."

Can't imagine why, Y/n thought to herself, her arms kept firmly behind her back and legs spread apart, trying to present as professionally as possible.

"Training is gonna be a white-knuckle ride through hell. If I've done my job, you'll be waking up in a cold sweat, from memories of this place every night for the rest of your miserable lives!!"

Y/n kept a straight face as he continued

"Right now, you're nothing." Ouch "Livestock! But over the next three, soul-crushing years, you'll learn how to take down your own Goliath! Remember this moment when you come face to face with him, 'cause here's where you ask yourself. Am I a fighter? Or am I feed."

Y/n listened to him go on, "Am I gonna be grounded up to pulpy human grist 'tween boulder-sized incisors! Or am I gonna be the one to bite!!"

Y/n almost gagged at the picture he painted in her mind as Shadis walked towards a familiar blonde who was two rows in front of Y/n while she was taking a few glances at whoever was next to her

Trying to scope out who she might've been living with for the next three years of her life. On her left was a practically bald boy with gray hair and a head that oddly resembled a ball. Then, to her right was a girl with chocolate brown hair, it reminded her of the treats back home.

"Hey! Mop-top"

Armin immediately saluted, "Sir!" Sweat gathered at his hairline, as Y/n adverted her gaze from the two beside her. Watching from a distance

"What do they call you, Maggot!"

Armin's body shook at his harsh tone. "Armin Arlert from Shiganshina, sir!"

"Wow, seriously? Why would your parents curse you with such a dumb name!" Shadis asked, seeming genuine enough.

Causing Armin to deflate. "It was my grandfather, sir!"

Shadis leaned down to his level, getting close to Armin's face as he tried adverting his gaze onto something else. "Cadet Arlert! Why is a runt like you here?"
