Episode Six
When the old lady who always visited the Bakery passed away, Y/n understood it was too old age, and nothing could help her. However, it's hard to accept someone's death when they've been devoured.
It took less than an hour for nearly everyone to meet up, some trying to find a friend who was assigned a different squadron and others sobbing into their hands while the situation began to darken as much as the sky opened up and wept for humanity.
You weren't an exception to this extending grief. Sat with your arms on your knees, rain cascading on your face in a soothing pattern. Storms usually brought you peace. There was something about being cuddled in a blanket, sipping on a mug of tea while reading and listening to the gentle rainfall.
But this was hell. Your uniform was drenched. The cloak Conny had draped on your shoulders a few minutes prior did little to protect you from the escalating storming.
Damnit.. You buried yourself deeper, ignoring the obnoxious footsteps edging closer, shaking in your borrowed cloak. Leave me alone.. I need to be left alone. They didn't stop. Go away.
Y/n was lock and loaded, insults ready to bombard whoever was trampling her pity parade, but this died on your tongue, and glare softened when Armin came into focus, his eyes brimming with tears and bottom lip wobbling.
"Y/n.. I.. I'm so sorry," He crouched in front of you. His blonde hair was straggly and heavy with water. "You got hurt because I couldn't move.. if I just moved.."
"Armin.." You drawled his name, and he refused to meet your eyes.
"Maybe you and Eren wouldn't have had to fight so hard.. Maybe I shouldn't have lived.."
Your heart panged at his words, while he quivered under your blank gaze. "If you die, I die."
"Don't talk like that..."
You scoffed. "It's ok for you to talk about death, but not me?"
He raised his voice, newfound life surging through him. "No! You're different.. you can't die.. but me? I'm worthless.. a burden..!" Armin's voice roughened as his head hung low to his chest.
There it was.
You tangled your fingers in Armin's hair, pulling him close to your unreadable face.
"If you're gone, I'll have nothing else to live for. Want that? Then go ahead," you yanked his head towards the ledge where bits of human and blood were staining the streets. "Jump, and let yourself go. Let Eren's sacrifice die with you. Let me die with you."
