Oh my god--

"Maria."

"Maria.

"Maria!"

I opened my eyes. i see Beck. he was soaked. he was wearing a gray muscle tee. he smiled at me.

"Beck?" I Croaked. My voice hoarse.

"Are you okay?" He asked with concern in his eyes.

"What happened?" I said farrowing my eyebrows.

"You were boogie boarding with Laura and you tumbled over from a wave and you hit your head on a rock and passed out underwater." he said with an ever so slight smile.

I sat up. but I was quickly stopped by a harsh pain In my chest. I couched into my elbow and saw blood.

The dream. I thought.

"How long was I under?" I asked coughing once more.

"15 minutes." beck said. then I realized our position. I'm sitting up on the sand and beck is kneeling at my side with his arms at rather side of me.

"Wha-wha?" I questioned.

"Laura jumped in after you and she couldn't find you, so she called me and I jumped in and found you. Beck the LifeGuard to the rescue." He chuckled.

"Thank you." I said. I smiled at him and he smiled back.

"Your welcome. oh and Happy Birthday!" he said.

"Yeah, what a birthday." I mumbled.

"Laura got you a gift and a card. she's back at the house." beck commented.

"Okay. let's go." I said. As I tried to get up.

Beck held me down.

I gave him a questioning look.

"You need to rest for a couple more minutes." beck said.

"If she got me food, and I'm waiting for it, I'm sorry for what I am about to do to your face." He laughed.

"When can I get up?" I asked.

"In about a minute." he said.

"Why didn't you just swim to the top?" Beck asked.

"I-I uh, c-cant swim." I stated.

"Then why were you in the water?" he questioned me.

"Because bogie boarding is easier, because I have a flotation devise that will keep me from sinking." I explained.

"Would you like some lessons?" beck asked.

"Uh, yeah."said.

We gazed into each others eyes. it was silent.

Beck cleared his throat.

"Do you wanna open your gifts?" beck asked.

"Sure." I said as he helped me up. my chest hurt like a bitch. I cringed and let out a soft yelp.

"Are you okay?" beck grabbed my arm.

"Y-yeah." I said.

We walked back to the house in silence.

Until beck cleared his throat.

"You know, your beautiful." he whispered to me.

I couldn't say anything.

Once we reached the house, I opened the door and hurried inside.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARIA!" Laura screamed as she threw her hands in the air.

"Thank you!" I said as I ran and gave her a hug.

I looked to the side and saw 2 cards and 2 gifts.

"These are for you, birthday girl!" Laura said as she handed me the packages with cards taped to them.

We sat down on the couch.

"Open mine first." Beck said. he smiled at me and I smiled back.

I carefully took the card off his package.

It said my name in cursive.

I opened the envelope and the front of the card said "happy birthday!" typical birthday card.

Inside it said "Maria,

I know we haven't known each other for very long but I want you to have a great birthday today!

-Beck"

I smiled at him.

I delicately opened the blue package

"Okay, I will be back in a minute I left the birthday cake in the car." Laura said as she got up ad walked out the door.

I opened the small package and saw a silver chain necklace with a camera pendant. it was gorgeous. so many feeling went through me. love, happiness, excitement, overjoyed, yet scared.

"I-I love it!" I said.

I threw my arms around Beck's neck. Oh my god what's am I doing. before I knew it my lips were pressed on Beck's. I kissed him but he didn't kiss back. I quickly pulled back. he gave me a weird look.

I stood up and ran out the back door.

"Maria!" Beck shouted after me.

I started crying as I ran down the beach as fast as I can.

why did he give me that weird look? I thought.

I ran really far down the beach. I looked back and nobody was following. I'm out of breath, the sun is setting and my feet hurt.

I kept walking until I saw a huge cherry blossom tree. I climbed to the top and hid from the world.

What was I thinking?"
