Maggie's phone beeped.
She knocked on the door early the next morning. He grinned when he answered.
"Only this once Campbell." She pushed past him into the house, "There's a loose floorboard in the living room, grab your tools, that might be good."
"All your clothes are still here, all your things..."
"Don't."
"You're going to have to come back for them eventually as much as I love this crop top look."
"Do you want me to help you hide my father's guns or not?"
He sighed, "You look beautiful is what I was saying." They stared at each other for a moment when a movement was heard upstairs. She shook her head.
"Just help me with this, they aren't remotely smart enough to look here."
When it was done, still kneeling, she handed him his own weapon from the stash, "Turn it in. They'll suspect you anyways and they'll search but it can't hurt." He grabbed her face and pressed his lips to hers forcefully, pushing her down to the floor. She bit his lip harshly and pulled away, "You don't want me to start screaming Campbell." Maggie let her eyes glance to the upstairs.
"She is nothing."
"Neither was I." She pushed herself up and left.

"C'mon it'll be fun!"
"It's your ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend's movie night." Harry rolled over in her bed, "How could it possibly be fun?"
"Because you've used up the last of my ex boyfriend's drugs and you have nothing left to lose." Maggie tugged at his shoulder, "And he's not going to go anyways so we get to just watch a movie while you climb down from your high."
Harry turned on his side and looked at her, "He's not going to go?"
"Of course not." She rolled her eyes as if it were obvious, "So c'mon."
She was right he wasn't there. Elle looked back at Harry and Maggie laughing amongst themselves throughout the entire movie. They were having fun, throwing popcorn at each other, but it was friendly and she noticed that they didn't really touch. So she worked up her courage to approach when they were all walking home.
"Maggie!" Elle yelled out nervously, the girl turned briefly and then kept walking with Harry, "Maggie!" Elle caught up, "I'm so glad you came tonight. Can I please talk to you I—" Maggie stopped and then smiled at Harry and nodded, who raised an eyebrow at Elle and kept walking, "I'm sorry I just needed to talk to you."
"I can only imagine about what." Elle just blushed and stared at her feet Maggie scoffed, "Goodbye Elle."
"He scares me." She finally choked out, "He—" She swallowed and looked around herself, "And if it makes you feel any better he calls out your name every time, every single time, and then he realizes it's not you and... he's hurting me and Maggie I need my friend right now."
Maggie paused before she turned and hugged Elle hard, "I'm sorry." She pulled away, her eyes shiny, "But I'm not your friend."
She was at the house as Elle had just started the clean up. Campbell came out onto the porch and looked at her, relief flooding through every ounce of his body, he hadn't seen her since they had hid the guns. She held out her hand childishly, but he didn't question and took it and led her inside.
"Why are you here now?"
"Because tonight I don't care what happened."
"And tomorrow?"
She looked him in the eye, "I don't know."
"It's been a while since we've taken a bath." He suggested and double bolted the door behind them.
They made out harshly but only briefly. He got on top of her in the bathtub, she could tell he was examining her. She didn't show it but she could feel everything in her starting to cave towards him when she looked at him. She knew she told herself she only came here for Elle. That she knew what he would do to her when she came back. And she knew most of all how disgusted she should be by him and by the fact that the majority of her had been ok with that and that maybe she had just been looking for an excuse.
"You're calculating." Campbell said, "I can see it in your eyes Maggie. Tell me."
"I don't think I'm the same person I used to be." She answered honestly, "I still love you and I miss you every day, but I don't want to be what we were anymore." She looked away and shrugged, putting her arms lightly around him.
"And what were we?"
She shrugged and sank a little deeper into the water, "Beauty and the Beast?" She offered.
She didn't even struggle for breath when he pushed her under. He had never done it to her before but she wasn't surprised by anything anymore. It wasn't until he was worried he had gone too far that he dragged her up to the surface, "You really have changed." He tilted his head to the side, "Come back Maggie."
"No." She answered, he leaned down and kissed her imploringly moving to her neck, "No, not right now." He slammed his hand against the tub and thought about pushing her down for good.
"Why the fuck not? You love me I love you that's how it's supposed to work isn't it?" He shouted at her. She shrank despite herself and then swallowed hard and moved up to face him. She saw a thought cross his face, "Do you think I killed Cassandra?" She couldn't help but giggle, "What?"
"Campbell Eliot you have never once done anything that obvious in your entire life."
She let him push her down into the water to kiss her neck but they stopped at the sound of someone ringing the doorbell and knocking on the door, "That's my cue." She moved to get up but he pushed her back down.
"You're coming back sooner or later. Why not now?"
This time she had an answer for him, "Because I can't hold my breath forever."
Maggie opened the door for Elle. The girl was startled, "What's the cliche line here? 'Don't say I never did anything for you.'"
