I didn't want to wake up today, but when dad came in my room, turned on the lights and told me to get ready, I didn't have another choice.
Tommy woke up when dad did that too, but he just mumbled and grumbled and then went back to sleep in my bed.

I open my closet and pull out a pair of comfortable trousers and a warm sweatshirt. It was a plain outfit, but I'm not going anywhere fancy. I quickly put on my glasses and quietly sneak downstairs. I'd hate to wake the others up.
Dad forces me to eat a small breakfast before we go. I comply because I don't want to argue. I put bread into the toaster and push the button down. I watch the bread disappear into the toaster. I stare at the toaster and wait for it to pop. After a minute of it toasting it pops, I flinch and grab it out of toaster, "ow!" I exclaim as I quickly drop it onto the counter because it was immensely hot.
I groan and grab a paper towel. I pick the toast back up and throw it on the paper towel before it burns me again. I am too lazy to grab butter, so I just eat plain toast. It doesn't taste good. I really don't know what I was expecting though.

Once I'm done with my toast I throw the paper towel away and unplug the toaster.
"You ready, kid?" Dad asks. I shrug in respond. "Get your shoes on," he says.

As I was slipping on my shoes I hear fast little thumping coming down the stairs.
"Wilby?" A tired Tommy rubbing his eyes asks.
"Yes, Toms?"
"Are you leaving now?"
"Yeah," I say bluntly.
"Without saying goodbye to Tech or Ranboo?" He asks.
"Yeah."
"Isn't that a bit... mean?"
"No. If they wanted to see me before I left they would've set an alarm or done something to wake up on time," I explain. Toms eyes dart to the floor, and he slowly nods. He waddles over to me and hugs me. I pause for a second and hug him back.
"I gotta get going now, see ya in a week or so, okay?" I smile softly. Tom nods. He looks so fragile right now. Maybe it's because he just woke up? Or maybe it's because he's on the verge of tears? I can't decide.
I unlock the door and step outside. Once I step over the threshold I'm met by the damp morning air.
I walk over to the car and wait. I hear it beep, so I look up. I see dad walking out the house and to the car. I open the door and crawl inside the car. Dad gets into the drivers seat without a word. He buckles up and so do I.
Then we're off.
