Burn Me While I Bleed Me

It started with a candle
a candle you chose to light
and a candle you chose to protect.
Decorated with flowers and ivy
a flame as bright as a star but never flickered,
Until the disturbance
You.
A harsh wind that kept this candle holding on for dear life
But you never let it snuff out
You let this continue..
Watching as sparks flew under your dive bar breath and twisted words that found themself etched into the wax
Over time you almost seemed shocked when the candle finally started burning,
Melting wax flowing over the once beautiful flowers that withered under its own flame,
a flame that you lit.
You're watching burn out before your eyes
and it's your fault.
A candle that you chose
but didn't want.
A candle you promised to protect
but only accounted for pain.
Personally if I knew then what I know now
I wish you never chose me
