❄️

You stepped out of the shower, grabbing your towel. Cold showers felt like hell, but you were somewhat getting used to them.

The medicine Sigewinne had given you knocked you out. You managed to sleep the next day away, and had woken up around the late hours of the night.

After a long thought process of just contemplating your life decisions, you had finally decided what you wanted to do.

Your father's words along with Sigewinne's struck your heart deeply. You had always found yourself wondering what kind of life your mother lived in Fontaine, despite her only being a boutique shop owner. But when you first entered the nation, it certainly surprised you.

Fontaine was far different compared to the desert, both technical and complex. Although you planned to be there for a short moment, fate had other plans and countered your wishes.

Sighing, you put on your clothes and splashed some water onto your face. You patted yourself dry and exited your bathroom, going over to your desk.

You took another pill since the throbbing in your wrist became more apparent. You would try to go to Sigewinne later on to have her change your bandage.

Swallowing the pill, you heard a knock at your door.

You opened it, looking at a Garde.

"Y/N?" He examined you.

"...Yes?"

"May I come inside?"

You tilted your head, becoming suspicious. "...Why?"

He lowered his voice. "I'm part of the escape plan."

With that, you pulled him into your room, closing the door.

You looked back at him. "Why are you here?"

You found it strange how not only a Garde was involved with the plan, but his timing. It was fairly late, and you wondered why he even chose to pay you a visit.

"Things have gotten out of hand." He replied. "Some of the members of the group have been placed under interrogation."

You folded your arms across your chest. "Who?"

"Genevieve, Darcy, and Rave." He responded.

Your heart dropped.

Did Wriothesley take action?

Biting your lip, you pressed your back against the door. "...Why them? What happened?"

He sighed. "Apparently, someone reported them to the Duke."

You tried to contain your growing anxiety. "Who would do that? No one should have known..."

"We have a rat amongst us." He replied.

You noticed how the taser from his hip was missing.

Swallowing, you laid your hands on your side, making sure the handle on your door wasn't far from reach.

"Any idea on who that could be?"

He shrugged. "Our numbers are large. It could be anyone."

You took another deep breath, peeking at the door handle again. "...Why did you come to me specifically about it?"

He looked at you with an intimidating expression. "...Because you're our newest member."

Your heart skipped another beat. "...So?"

"Why is the Duke still alive?"

Your mouth slightly fell open as you made eye contact with him. You licked your lips, trying to think of an explanation, but failed to do so.

He took a step closer to you.

"And why is that when you met Genevieve, Darcy and Rave... that the Duke suddenly makes a movement against us?"

That was all you needed to grab the handle and swing your door open.

You ran out, trying to escape from him.

However, a loud gunshot rang through your ears.

Suddenly, you felt your body collapse, along with your hip throbbing in pain as your body hit the ground.

You yelled out, only to have the Garde push his taser against your neck.

No words were spoken for the next course of action.

Your body endured a painful shock, making you go limp. Your vision grew hazy as you felt yourself get spun around and placed in tight cuffs.

Another person approached you. You tried to mumble out for help, but you felt a rag get shoved into your mouth and wrapped around your head.

"...take...solitary..."

You could only make out a few words as you felt yourself being dragged away from your room.

A painful pitch sounded, along with the throbbing of your body.

You coughed, failing to make sense of what was happening.

You could see Wriothesley's office coming into your line of view. You took a long blink, and when you opened your eyes, you were suddenly in an unknown space.

"...restrain...let...die..."

You felt your body get thrown onto a cold surface.

You muffled into the rag, the friction of it causing your mouth to bleed.

You looked up to see through your blurry view, the Garde and someone else staring down at you.

That's when you realized where you were.

An ice cold room, crafted by Wriothesley's own hands...

...that would kill you if you stayed there for more than 48 hours.

"...die...traitor..."

And as the door closed to the frozen enclosure of solitary confinement...

...everything went black.
