A/N: I'm back! Couple of short notices (I guess), I've been away because my other laptop broke and I couldn't write out my stories properly without my files and documents :(. I also had to take summer courses for college, so that was fun... (not). Since this is my most popular story, I'm going to put this here (and maybe delete it later), ALL my stories will be updated tonight. I got a new laptop with my things, and now that my summer break has OFFICIALLY began, get your hankies ready :D. Also, thank you for the worries and such. It means a lot that you guys were concerned about my wellbeing and health (or you suckers just desperately crave more fanfictions /j), but I am well! I did have something happening that I'd rather not mention, but everything is all good! Also thank you for almost 1K followers?! I came back and saw so many notifications. As long as I live, my fanfictions will PROSPER >:D.

Also I know it's been a while (five months...), but this is continuing off the last chapter, of course. Feel free to reread for a better understanding and to refresh your memory!

Wriothesley gave a weak smile at Neuvillette, shaking his head a bit. The tension in his muscles betrayed his growing inner turmoil, only adding to the thick tension in the air of the office.

"Apologies, but I don't follow." Wriothesley replied, his tone smooth and even as his gaze locked with Neuvillette's.

Neuvillette shifted his gaze, looking down at his desk. "...People are like water. They hold memories, values, and life itself. However, water itself can be corrupted. It can be stained, manipulated, and can even cause harm to some living beings. But one thing is for certain. Water can never be changed, because down to the last atomical value, it is still water."

Wriothesley didn't know how to handle this sudden information, rather analogy that he was making. But he couldn't deny the pit that was growing in his stomach-- a bad feeling that shook his core.

"Your past defines you, Wriothesley." Neuvillette said, letting his eyes lock back onto his. "You may have served your time and even gained the title of the Duke of the Fortress of Meropide, but I see how much your emotions take control of you."

"...What exactly are you saying?" Wriothesley retorted, not out of defense, but out of anxiety. The fact that Neuvillette threw his past back at him and called him out on his conflicted behavior caused his fists to ball up, the veins in his muscles becoming apparent.

"I am saying that you are clearly attached to her because of your past." Neuvillette's tone was blunt and bold. "After speaking with the owner of said shop, she happened to mention that you were walking along the city streets with her. Quite strange for someone who suddenly wants to capture her after her release. Why is it that she would commit such an act after being away from her home for little over three months?"

Wriothesley was silent.

"I don't know how you did it, or when you did it, but framing an innocent woman, who isn't even native to this nation, is  considered a deplorable illegal act."
