❄️"How's that?"
"...Better."
After you had reawoken from being put under, Sigewinne guided through the situation with you step-by-step. It took a while for you to finally calm down and speak about what had happened, but honestly, with Wriothesley's presence next to you, that was all you needed to feel safe.
"Is it starting to hurt?" Sigewinne tapped the bandage on your hip.
"A bit." You replied. "Not too bad, though. I've had worse in the desert."
Wriothesley chuckled.
"Something funny?" You turned your face towards him.
"Nothing." He said, kissing your cheek.
You rolled your eyes, cupping his jaw to kiss his lips. "You're terrible."
"Hm? What was that?" Wriothesley smirked.
"You're. Terrible." You said, smiling.
"What? You love me?" Wriothesley tilted his head.
"Oh shut up." You replied, pushing his arm.
He laughed again and kissed you once more. "Maybe I didn't hear that right."
His cold breath softly spoke onto your lips, making you blush. "...You heard right."
"Um..." Sigewinne looked at the two of you, making you laugh.
"Sorry." Wriothesley intertwined his fingers with yours. "Got a little carried away."
"Er... anyways, Y/N." She turned her attention back to you. "Do you feel sick?"
"I feel like I got hit by a train." You replied. "You said I'll have a fever, right?"
She nodded. "It'll be pretty bad, just as a heads up. But with proper rest, medicine, and food, you'll get through it."
You sighed. "This place is the worst. I've literally knocked on death's door twice, now."
Wriothesley took a deep breath. "...It's okay if you don't want to stay here. I understand."
You shook your head. "And miss out every day teasing you to death? I think not."
He smiled softly. "If that's what you're looking forward to, you've got a lot coming."
You giggled. "Thank you."
"For?"
"For talking to me." You kissed his cheek. "You're not the only crazy one, you know."
He chuckled. "You're not the only delusional one, you know."
You hit his arm, making him laugh. "Shut up."
"You can stay here as long as you want, Y/N." Sigewinne placed her hand on her heart. "You're recovering fast, but I'd prefer if you'd stay around if that helps you feel safe."
You bit your lip. "Actually... I want to stay in Wrio's room."
He looked at you curiously. "Oh? Do you miss that hot shower?"
You rolled your eyes. "You're so privileged."
"Yet here I am willing to give it all to you..." He kissed your knuckles. "...if you'll accept."
You giggled. "Does that include my lucky meals?"
"Of course."
"Then yes, I accept."
Sigewinne smiled. "Just make sure, Wriothesley, you take good care of her. Be sure she takes her medicine, eats, and rests."
"Will do." Wriothesley stood up.
"That goes for you too, Mister." Sigewinne pointed her finger towards him. "Clorinde and I will keep watch over the Fortress until the both of you are better."
He sighed. "I assume I'm paying for her work out of pocket?"
Sigewinne giggled and skipped off, making Wriothesley frown.
You laughed. "Okay, I need a little help here..."
He turned to you, smiling. "Of course, princess."
With one fell swoop, he gently picked you off the bed, bridal style.
You blushed, burying your head into his chest. "Are you really going to carry me to your room like this..."
"Do you prefer a piggy back ride?" He teased.
You rolled your eyes. "I don't want people seeing me like this."
"Like what?" He asked.
"Just... I don't know. Isn't it weird for the Duke to carry a prisoner like this?"
He chuckled, looking down at your flustered face. "But this way, they'll know that you're mine."
❄️
"Here. Sigewinne said you should take this."
You stood next to the bed, looking down at your bandage. Wriothesley had opened your medicine bottle and poured two pills into his palm, holding a glass of water.
You sighed and took the medicine, knowing it would make you sleepy, per usual.
"Question..." You placed down the glass onto his nightstand.
"Yes?" He asked, taking off his vest.
"Um... where's the ring?"
Wriothesley looked at you, watching your cheeks turn red.
He smiled, pulling out the ring from a dainty chain on his necklace.
"This thing?" He spun it around his hand as if he was playing with his cuffs.
You huffed, stepping closer to him to grab it. "Yes, that thing."
He laughed as you removed the chain from his neck. You slipped the ring off, admiring the shine of the gemstone.
"...Why did you buy this?" You asked.
"Because." Wriothesley leaned down to kiss you. "It symbolizes something special."
"Special?" You asked as he kissed you again.
He hummed. "I bought it as a promise ring. Even though it's typically used for engagements... I just thought of you when I came across Avice."
"Oh..." You felt him grab your waist, pulling you into him as the kiss you shared became longer.
"You sound disappointed." He spoke.
"Why would I be disappointed..."
"Maybe you thought I was asking you to marry me." He said, kissing your neck.
You sighed. "Well, with a rock this big... it's kinda hard to get past that impression..."
He gently bit your neck, rubbing his hands over your hips. "I don't mind asking you."
You blushed, feeling him tug at the band of your shorts. "Of course you don't..."
He raised up his hand to slip the ring on your finger. Pulling himself up, he kissed it, then your knuckles, and back to your lips.
"...Take a shower before you come to bed with me."
