It was the day of the performance, all ten of the contestants were ready, everyone in the clothes they chose for the performance. Surprisingly, Sunwoo wasn't that nervous about this mission. He kept in his head the whole time that he would do well, that he improved a lot and that he could impress everyone. He just needed to trust his practice.
All of the contestants enter the stage in a line, everyone ready for their respective performances. Across the stage, they see the CEO seated on his own dedicated table. That moment was when Sunwoo started to get nervous, he wasn't before, but now, the anxiety started to kick in.
The first group that was called on stage was Yejun's group. The boys were incredibly nervous, especially Jiho, who was afraid of standing out like a sore thumb like Mr. Lee said in their practice. But they practiced for this moment, rehearsed for several hours, some of them even skipping meals so they could practice for longer.
Then the music started, they began to dance, their movements powerful and sharp, not missing a single beat. Their charisma was through the roof, facial expressions perfectly conveying the emotion needed for the dark concept that was given to them.
Once the performance was done, they left everyone in shock, including Sunwoo, who became even more nervous about the possible results of the mission.
Then the second group was called on stage, Minjoon's group, they positioned themselves right at the center of the stage, they were ready. The song started, their movements slow and delicate, conveying the dark and heavy message the song had. Their vocals complemented each other perfectly. Even though the group had some trouble in rehearsals, they were able to get everything together and have a great performance for their mission. Once they finished their performance, the group was instructed to move backstage while Sunwoo's group was told to get up on stage for their performance.
When they got in their positions, they could feel the spotlights shining bright on them, they knew people were watching them, but that gave the group even more strength to give their best performance. The song started to play, and the group started to perform their choreography, the song had a very cute and summer vibe to it, which reflected a lot on the choreo itself. The members of the group were able to shine in their own way, each one bringing their personality into the performance. Their vocals were bubbly and soft, especially Sunwoo's, who elevated the level of the vocals, while Leo and Jihoon were amazing in their own ways, giving personality and the presence that was needed.
Once they were done, they were instructed to go backstage with the other boys, and while the live votes were being made, a small video with clips of the behind-the-scenes of the mission played on the big screen behind the stage.
Once the voting was done, everyone was called on stage, they all stood in a straight line, waiting for the CEO to announce who would pass to the next mission. He started:
"Today, I will announce the contestants that will pass to the next mission." Everyone was anxious, after the last mission, they didn't know what the number of people that would pass would be, it could be everyone, or it could be six or seven.
"Firstly, I will announce each group's ranking, the first group will go to the next mission, while the other two will be selected via votes." The CEO said, now grabbing a paper, ready to read the mission results.
"The group to receive first place today is," Everyone looked at each other, some more confident while others not so much.
"Group two." CEO Kyungsoo revealed, all of the members, including Minjoon, released a sigh of relief, knowing that they would pass to the next mission. Walked forward and positioned themselves beside the CEO.
"Now for the two remaining groups, I will reveal the contestants that will go to the next mission." Sunwoo took a deep breath and tried to remain as positive as possible, with a smile on his face.
"For group three, the contestants that will go to the next mission are..." The contestants that were already chosen for the next mission were looking at the ones that were not chosen yet, wondering who would join them and who wouldn't.
"Leo, Sunwoo, and Jihoon," Sunwoo was incredibly relieved, sighing while walking next to the other chosen contestants. The boy looks to his side and sees a smiling Minjoon looking at him. Sunwoo's heart fluttered, he didn't know why, but the older's presence always made him more comfortable no matter the situation.
He looked at the remaining contestants, Jiho, Yejun, Sujin, and Woojin. All four of them were holding hands, waiting to know who would be called. The CEO started:
"I will now announce one by one, the final contestants that will go to the next mission," All four of them looked at each other, giving a small nod.
"Woojin," The boy that was called couldn't mask his happiness, he went running next to the others that were selected.
"Sujin," He calmly walked in the direction of the bigger group, a big smile plastered on his face.
Only two contestants were remaining, Jiho and Yejun, the tension in the air was increasing with each second that passed.
"Unfortunately, only one of you two will pass to the next mission, since one of you received way more votes than the other," The CEO announced.
Sunwoo couldn't hold back his tears, both of them were incredible friends to him, Jiho being the first friend he made there, and Yejun being almost like a big brother to him.
"The final contestant to join the next mission is..." The silence was killing everyone, every second was extended to hours, and it was unbearable.
"Jiho," CEO Kyungsoo announced, but the boy who was called, didn't run excitedly next to the others, the first thing that he did was hug his friend, who would be left behind.
"I'm sorry..." Yejun said not daring to look at Jiho's eyes.
"Why are you apologizing? You did so well! You gave your best! That's what matters!" Jiho replied, cupping the other's cheeks on his hands.
Yejun couldn't utter a single word, he was disappointed in himself, but he didn't want to express that and make Jiho sad, so he just smiled and nodded.
All of the other contestants went to the two of them and joined in a group hug, no one really wanted to let go, but good things must come to an end.
