Danger met them as they unloaded. Cody left them alone, knowing that Light Batch needed to reconnect. 

"Okay. We have to meet with the Generals for a report, and then we have spare time for the rest of the day!" Sonic grinned wildly

"Or" Danger ran a hand through his crimson hair "You can come with me for a surprise" He smirked

"What kind of surprise?" Rex raised an eyebrow

"The kind that Esmeralda has been working on for a while now. Nearly a year" Danger's smirk softened

"Oh?" Error threw up an eyebrow too

"I'm intrigued. We'll meet to see what Danger's surprise is, then" Rex sighed

"I'll meet you at her place!" Danger dashed out the door, throwing a quick wave goodbye

An hour later

"So, any idea what Danger and Essa's surprise is?" Sonic asked

"No. But if she's been working on it for that long, I doubt it's going to be boring" Error grinned

The door was unlocked, and Error poked her head in "Danger! What happening-" Error spotted the mess, the various toys, the crib

"Danger did you and Essa..." Error started

"A baby. they're the sweetest" Danger hiccup "Essa's dead, Error"

"Dead?" Rex coughed

"Car crash. She had just gone to get her sister to meet us" Danger squeaked

"Where's the child?" Sonic asked, "Are they safe?"

"I don't want to admit it" Danger sighed "It was the backup plan. We had hoped never to have to use it"

"Danger. What was plan B?" Error's face contorted with shock

"We have an accomplice. Plan B was to sneak them into the system. So if the worst happened, they'd still have family" Danger sat down 

"There are hundreds of casualties every day, Danger! How will you ever know if they're still alive?!" Rex cried 

"I'll just have to hope, Rex. I can't leave them to the social systems here. They're the child of a clone and a civilian! Their very existence is illegal!" Danger put his head in his hands 

"I only got to meet them once. When the accomplice took them to Kamino" Danger admitted, 

"Who's the acommplice?" Furn growled

"You'll kill them if I tell you. For all safety reasons, I can't tell you" Danger's voice was muffled

"If we have a nephew" Sonic trembled "we won't be able to find them!" 

"I don't even know their name" Danger sobbed "The only way I'll know is by face alone

"Rex looked down, "I...I'm sorry Danger," 

"We all are," Furn agreed

"If you need anything, we're here for you Dang'ika," Error's eyes softened 

"We can't focus on this right now" Danger tried "T-The sooner I can find a droid the sooner I can make one less for them to fight"

Furn sighed, "I think you should talk to Thire, Thorn, and Fox on this, they are your commanders after all,"

"They'll turn me in! I did something illegal, Furn. I can't put my child in more danger than they're already in. The system is sound. The accomplice will try, but if my child is found out...."

"Death," Rex said

"Danger, you don't have to tell them about this, just... the CCs know about Esmerelda, remember? Fox gave you a month off to spend time with her," Furn said, "Just ask them to keep your mind busy, please,"

"Fine," Danger was crying, his batchmates all hugged him as he broke down in their arms.

"I think... we should head to the barracks," Error said,

Danger nodded.

The five of them all climbed into Error's bunk and into a cuddle pile, Danger was curled up into Furn, who held onto what was left of his broken twin, he's lost the woman he loved, and his child, Furn didn't want to lose his brother to the darkness.

A few days later, Danger, Rex, and Sonic all stood in Fox's office.

"As much as I hate this," Fox said, "I'm asking you three to help guard the new senators during a meet and greet today,"

"Of course!" Danger faked enthusiasm.
