"Ser Ryam was a strong Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. But he was ill for some time. He passed in peace, I hope" King Viserys spoke standing at his seat at the head of the table, a council meeting being held. It was no more than few moons since Queen Aemma's tragic passing and with that Rhaenyra has been named heir to the Iron Throne, the happiest decision Adelaine has ever heard being proud of her best friend.

"Yes, your grace" Mellos answered with a bow.
"He was found to have passed gently in his sleep. His remains are being prepared by the Silent Sisters. The succeeding Lord Commander, Ser Harrold, would like to make haste in finding Ser Ryam's replacement on the Kingsguard" the man continued, Adelaine and Rhaenyra preparing the cups for the men on the council, finally her father agreed to let Adelaine be a cupbearer understanding Rhaenyra needed a friend now more than ever.

"Your Grace. My lords. The Kingsguard must soon be restored to its full complement of seven. With the help of the Hand, I've invited a number of fine candidates to court. All have passed fair trials." Ser Harrold step in, pointing up the information about the new knights for the realm, but as he finished the door forcily opened revealing Corlys Velaryon coming up in a hurry at the council meeting.
"Four ships have now been lost. The last one was flying my banner. The Stepstones have now grown into a conflagration, yet you sit here and dither about court business." The Velaryon Lord began, disappointment and anger drown on his face.

"If you've something to discuss, Lord Corlys..." Otto Hightower interrupted eyeing the lord from his seat.
"I want to know what is to be done about my ships and my men" Lord Corlys didn't let go of his statement slammimg his palm slightly on the table.
"The Crown will compensate you for your ship and crew, and make an offering to the men's families" Adelaine's father spoke again with a bit irritation in his voice, Adelaine sighed hearing this as Rhaenyra eyed her, both of them with their back turned from the table.
"I don't want compensation. I want to seize the Stepstones by force and burn out this Crabfeeder." Corlys pointed up again walking closer to the seat where Otto stood to be able to face Viserys directly.

"I am not prepared to start a war with the Free Cities" the King gasped titling his chin up towards Lord Velaryon.
"These pirates are not the Free Cities" the Lord tried to convince Viserys about the situation that needed help immediately.
"Who do you think provides them with their ships and tender?" The King calmly asked shaking his head slightly.
"In all of its history, my lord, the Seven Kingdoms have never entered open war with the Free Cities. Were that to happen, the losses would be incalculable." Lord Beesbury spoke his mind aswell about the Stepstone's war that was already a problem for so long. Corlys caught sight of the old man, stepping forward to his seat fearless and angry "What reason does the Crabfeeder have to fear us?" Corlys asked putting accent on every word, as Beesbury backed himself in the chair a bit, at that sight Adelaine could not help herself but giggle just to receive a stern look from her father.
