I am Harvey, Harvey Dallas. I am a run-of-the-mill business man. Nothing too serious, really.
This day I am currently in my office, making possible the last paperwork i'll ever make here.
That is because I have made a choice.
I have decide to donate my house to a charity, they will use the building as a school for homeless children, yes, i'm trying to just do my good deed for the world.
As I pen down my signature on some documents, one of my company assistants walks in.
"Mister Dallas, here are the financial reports of the past month, its going very good."
"Very well, is there anything else you walked in here for?"
"Well, mister Dallas, if you don't mind, why are you giving the mansion away?"
"There comes a time when you just have to be generous, friend. And for me, that moment is now. I mean, look at the company I have raised, i'm rich, but what about the ones that are not?"
"Ah, sorry for asking, mister Dallas. I'll take my leave now."
And there he goes, he leaves.
I continue penning my documents.
So where will I live now? I honestly like living in mansions, they are big, private, and for me they feel more as a home than a normal house.
And I certainly have the money to spare, my assistant just showed me the financial reports.
After I finish my paperwork, I will look for a mansion for sale, it does not matter to me if its a state away, my company is across the entire country and I am unmarried, so the choice is entirely mine.
My phone rings.
"Harvey Dallas, Kansas Bull Company, how can I help?"
"Ah, mister Dallas! Its Ramone from the charity you decided to generously donate your home to, i'm calling to ask you when we can exactly take the ownership, we don't want to leave you homeless, mister Dallas."
"You can just say Harvey. And about your question, i'm going to look online if there is a living place to my tastes, I will call you tomorrow, I promise. My staff will handle the paperwork of the ownership transfer."
"Ok, and again, thank you for doing this good deed, Harvey, you have ensured the future of a lot of lives. You have thanks from everyone here at the charity."
"Aww, its nothing, Ramone, just doing what I think every morally good human being should do! giving something of value to another."
"Alright, bye Harvey, i'll get your call tomorrow."
"Bye!"
With that over, I am even more enticed to search for a new home.
I open my laptop and search "Mansion" as fast as I can and click on the shopping tab.
All of them look so generic... I mean, I don't care about anything, but something should be unique, just so I can see that its my home.
I scroll across various real estate broker websites, to find affordable prices for me, but nothing unique. All just generic rich guy homes.
My courage to find a home sinks.
Perhaps i'll just have to buy one of the generic homes and remember the address then. Despite there being nothing unique.
But then I see it.
All the way at the bottom of the website.
A mansion, but not just any mansion, from the outside it looks so... Pretty.
I click on it, the information reveals.
"Beautiful mansion with large interior, top grade kitchen, large backyard and terrain.
Built in the 1980's giving it a unique and interesting outside appearance.
Please contact us for discussion on purchase."
I look at the pictures and I say no more.
I can already imagine where I want to place some of my furniture, and this house is even bigger than my current one! And the price? Pfft! I earn that in a month!
Without a second thought, I call the real estate company immediately.
"Hey, i'm calling for the purchase of a mansion on your website, is it still for sale?"
"Which one are you referring to, sir?"
"The one on 1705 Barney Avenue, Hutchinson, Kansas."
"Yes sir, that one is still open, in fact, you are the first one to ask for purchase in years."
"Well say no more, i'll pay whatever you want for it. Can you perhaps give me a rundown of the history? If you know it, I mean, i'm not pushing you."
"Not a problem, sir, hold on. I'm going to look through the archives."
The phone operator puts me on hold.
Yes! That was easy, I can calmly call Ramone tomorrow and get on with the ownership transfer.
"Sir? I have looked through the archives, the house belonged to a certain Michel Roddemans, a Dutch salesman who made his fortune after migrating to America, he wanted a nice house for himself, so he commissioned the construction."
"So is there any particular reason why he is selling it?"
"He is not alive anymore, sir. He died in 1999 in the mansion. Police never found the proper reason and just passed it on as that he died by natural causes, but some people claimed he was very anxious in the mansion around that time. After that, the house was empty, and it eventually fell to us. Nobody has been willing to purchase it, except for you now. That is all the files on the property said."
"Ok, I understand. Regardless, I would like to purchase the property for the full price you have given it."
"Under what name do you go, sir? Any company connections?"
"Harvey Dallas, I am the CEO of Kansas Bull Company."
"Alright mister Dallas, we will make the arrangements, you will be able to move into your new home in about a week. No more, no less. We will E-mail you the bill."
"Of course, Send it over, I will pay as soon as you have send me the financial papers."
"Alright, thanks." I hang up the phone.
That went smoothly.
Interesting history too, I did not expect that kind of story.
Anyhow, I have a mansion to give away, and a new one to move into, i'll just continue my paperwork then.
