I stand up in shock.

A confession? About what? She has been good with everyone, what would she try to say?

"You will hate me for this, but i'm not going to live with the burden of guilt..."

"What is it, Opal? I am your master, but now you can tell me anything!"

"I... It was me."

"It was you?"

"It was me who killed your mom and sister..."

I am baffled. She... She can't have done that!

"I have actually been holding something back..."

Opal's voice is trembling. She is trying to say something, but she has difficulty.

"Me and Emi, we look like humanoid beings, yes, but we can... Transform."

"Whoa whoa whoa! You killed them? WHY? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?"

I am filled with rage and sorry at the same time.

"I will explain, master, let me continue, please!"

I try to calm down, but I maintain my angry look.

"As I said, we can transform, into something you would not think of us."

"Continue." I say with a serious and angry tone.

"Into a form that makes us look like monsters, multiple arms, sharp claws and teeth, full black eyes with no pupils, we can slaughter whoever we want in that form."

"And you transformed during the night, went to them, and just relentlessly killed them?"

I thought her shock last night was genuine, like she always is.

But this... Why?

"Why did you do it, Opal? Why did my sister and mother have to go?"

My tone now has a soft tone of sadness to it.

"Two reasons, master. I could not stand how they treated you, they handled you like a pawn in a corporate game! I refuse to let that happen to you, they did not love you, they just wanted money from you!"

I actually am becoming understanding of her actions somehow.

But that is still no strong reason, it was still not necessary!

"And what is the second reason, Opal?"

She does a hand gesture and Emi walks into the room, along with the cage with Cheddar in it.

"The curse can be broken, it takes... Sacrifice."

What? Why would she not tell me earlier?

This is a heavy one on my mind, a lot to work through.

"And now, both of us can be released." Emi says confidently.

"What? Release? From the curse?"

"Two things, master. The curse, and this painful existence." Opal says.

"Umm... you will have to explain that further, Opal."

"Its obvious, master, we are creatures with no name, dwelling the world with no purpose. We do not need to exist. By breaking the curse with the sacrifices we have made, we can disappear."

They... They will be gone forever?

I... I do not feel so good...

"You, you have value, I love you! Daniel loves you! even Cheddar loves you both!"

"We understand, master, but we do not have anymore time." Emi says.

"But Cheddar will stay, in this way, you can remember us." Opal says.

"N-No..." I mutter.

I fall on my knees. This- This can't be happening!

I loved them, yet now they have to go? I feel... So empty now...

I start crying.

"Oh, master, its ok, in non-existence, we shall remember you as a good man."

Opal and Emi come up to me, in a group hug I will never forget.

"Well, goodbye, Opal, Goodbye, Emi. thank you for everything you have done for me and the previous owner. I will take good care of Cheddar."

"It has been a lovely time with you, master. We will not forget you."

"And neither will I."

A loud bang sound is what I hear.

"Its time, this is the real goodbye. Farewell, master." Opal says.

"Do not be sad that its over, smile because it happened, farewell, master." Emi says.

"Goodbye." I say with tears in my eyes.

Opal and Emi begin to glow white.

They come up to me for one final group hug.

I... Feel them disappearing in my arms. The feeling is painful.

"BANG!"

They are gone.

They have been good, and I will never forget them. I hope they are in a better place.

I turn to Cheddar in his cage. He squeaks in a sad tone.

"I know, Cheddar, its hard, but they are in a good place."

And so, I sit down, and contemplate all that happened.

A happy ending has been reached, and a chapter in my life has been finished.
