Chapter 17.

Riley's P.O.V.

What the fuck is happening?! One second we are in the hall about to bring Agnes in and while we did bring her into the infirmary, I didn't think it would be because my brother almost killed her!

Xave just passed out from his blood loss. He is such a trooper for giving her his blood because I don't think we have any vampire or compatible blood for them here. Fuck. I will make a mental note to change that.

'Kelsey, we were already bring Agnes in because we were hoping you can help with her reproductive health. Briggs explained everything?' I asked.

She nods her head while hooking up saline to both Agnes and Xave, attaching machines , and ordering nurses around.

'I will use this time while she is out to do some tests and see what we can do to help. I will link you with any progress, if you don't mind stepping out.' She tells me. I don't want to leave but they need the space and to be able to concentrate without me breathing down their necks.

It just feels so wrong to leave...

'I love you, baby girl. We are going to get this all figured out and you are going to be having pups in no time. Don't worry, I'll go kick my brother's ass for you. But of course I'll keep him alive so you can get your turn. Please wake up soon, sweetheart. I love you so much.' I link Agnes even though I know she can't hear me and I won't get anything in return. I can barely feel her through the bond.

What the fuck, Briggs?!

'Dad, can you please meet me in the cells?' I call my dad for reinforcements. I need someone down there with me that will help keep Ralph and I from losing it.

'Of course, Ri. I'll be there in a few minutes, leaving my room. What do you need?' He answers.

'You'll understand when we get there. I need you to make sure I don't kill your other son.' I growl.

I love my family so much. Mom, dad, Briggs, and our little sister Bethany. I couldn't have been happier that the Hamptons were the ones to adopt me and brought me into their family. I have felt so loved and welcomed, never once did anyone ever make me feel like I didn't belong.

This is going to be hard, to face Briggs like this. I don't think he meant to almost kill our mate but the fact is, he almost did. I'm trying so hard to remind Ralph that Briggs is our brother but all he can see is red. All Ralph knows is that Briggs almost killed his mate.

Nodding to the guard, they open the door to the stairs that take you to the cells. I can already tell dad is here. I hear Briggs asking him why the fuck am I in a cell.

Dad has no idea but I do. So right as I round the corner that takes me to where Briggs is being held, I answer him. 'Because you almost killed Agnes you piece of shit!' I yell.

Both Briggs and my dad look taken back when they hear me yell. Not only because I never yell but because of what I just said. I push the biometric button and unlock his cell.

I push him in further and just start swinging. This is what a mate would do when someone hurts what it his. In this moment, Briggs is not my brother nor my Alpha. Briggs is the man who almost killed the most important thing to me, my Agnes, my baby girl, my mate!

I continue to wail on Briggs until both of my arms get tired and heavy. Once that happens, I stand up from him and leave the cell. Closing the door, I look over at my dad and he holds a neutral expression.

I walk over to the sink and wash my hand. They are covered in blood, some is mine and some is Briggs'. My slit knuckles are already healed. I take my time drying with a paper towel because I have no idea what is next.
