— in which emberlynn does the last thing she ever expected to do in her own personal hell loop.

Emberlynn stood in the town square, a sense of disbelief washing over her. Returning here so soon felt like plunging back into her own personal hell loop.
"To show the districts that rebelling will only hurt you more than it hurts us, we have decided that another District 12 female will be reaped from the existing pool of tributes."
Emberlynn was at home, engaged in the mundane task of cleaning dishes, the television serving as background noise. Suddenly, the screen flashed with the words "Breaking News," capturing her attention. Dr. Gaul, the head Gamemaker of the 10th Hunger Games, appeared on the screen, delivering the shocking announcement that shattered Emberlynn's world.
The weight of those words hit Emberlynn like a sledgehammer. Time seemed to halt as her heart plummeted, echoing the shattering of a plate that slipped from her grasp, fracturing into a thousand pieces on the floor.
The realization sank in, a cruel truth she couldn't deny. "No, no, no," she repeated in her mind, hoping against hope that it was just some twisted joke, but the grim reality lingered.
Amidst the chaos of her thoughts, Emberlynn caught sight of a tall boy in the background of the broadcast. His piercing blue eyes and fluffy blonde hair marked him as a Capitol resident, adorned in the ugly, red Capitol uniform.
She hated him and his air of dignity and every Capitol citizen that capitalized on the murders of innocent children.
The square, a place she normally avoided like the plague, had become an unwelcome recurring setting in her life. Barely two days had passed since the last time she stood here, yet the weight of the reaping felt heavier this time.
Despite her usual aversion to the center of town, particularly the ominous Hall of Justice, Emberlynn found herself once again amidst the crowd, with several slips of paper bearing her name, all inside the ominous glass bowl.
Standing beside her was the familiar dark-skinned girl from the previous reaping, a striking reminder of the unsettling unpredictability of fate. She had given the girl a small smile as they got into position, but Emberlynn could not muster one back, her stomach tied up in knots.
