❪ AUTHOR'S NOTE ❫

  Hi I'm El and welcome to In Deep! Before we start, here are a few things about myself so I don't seem like a stranger:

• I love using emojis like they're such silly little things 😉☺️🤣

• I'm seventeen, almost 18 in jan 😰 ( I don't think I'm ready for adulting pookies )

• I'm in year 13 ( upper sixth ) of sixth form and study maths, chem and bio for alevels

• I'm a born and bred manchester lass ( the England one 🤨 not America )

• I have a strong accent but because I'm around poshos and tutor (rich??) kids a lot, I have to tone it down ( think BBC 😞 )

• I loveeee romance books like nothing is like being wrapped up in bed in the winter reading a silly little romance book / manga ( any after school lessons for unripe apples fans out there? )

• I'm a studious babe,, I love school and studying and just all of it so if you need any tips you can always ask <3

• I want to go into pharmacology but I've never heard anyone else want to?? Anyways, what job do yous want to do or do you have no clue? ( like me up until last year )

   Anyways, I'm beyond grateful for all of you who have chosen to read my book. Like you chose my book?? 🤭🤭🤭 Helloooo everyone from tiktok! ( pls say hi back or else this'll look awkward 👁🫦👁🤞🏽)

And welcome back to my faithful readers from before the rewrite! How are you all? ( tell me rn in the comments!! 😠 ) I missed your little updates and conversations in the comment sections so much ☹️🫶🏾

But back to In Deep— this isn't my first book. I've written a couple other fanfics that have since been unpublished ( opinions of those who read them to see them incorporated into the St Everfield's universe??? ) and half-written books that have remained in my docs.

   For those of you who didn't read In Deep before the rewrite, I'd reached chapter 23 when I wanted to do a redo. It might seem odd, but the word count was actually 130k and I'd spent eight months working on it at that point. There were so many things I wanted to tweak and I began co-writing it with God and I'm so happy with it now.

   So many things inspired this book from wanting to see a diverse found family cast / wealthy POC in YA / romances about black girls who don't fit the mould / personal growth. The over arching want was a romance book that was Christ-led. I didn't want to read about perfect characters, but ones that push me to do better, that the romance I read is one God wouldn't have issue with me reading.

   I know some of you might already be turned off from that last paragraph, stereotypes of what you view someone who is a "Christian" to be already pushing you to assume the contents of this book. Yes, there are characters who hold God dear to them, and yes, how they live fearing God is also shown but the purpose of this book isn't to force you to learn about Him. It's not to force you to convert either.

   To be honest the purpose isn't clear to me yet, 💀 but I want to do something with the gift God has given me to weave stories and make both of us happy.

   This book is very much original. Still, it will hold similar elements to other books I hold dear; like the trope of the love interest being in hospital and high off pain medication and talking lovey about the mc ( which is in my fave books ever Binding / Keeping 13 😋 ). When you see the trope list you'll want to twiddle your toe thumbs 😍😍

   Still, I'd be way more than happy if you guys criticize me if you see any errors ( culturally, ect, ) especially swimming-wise because I want this to be as accurate as possible. Plus if my characters use words you have never heard in your life, comment and I'll supply a translation🙏🏽  I sometimes forget not everyone is a Manc so won't understand what words like kecks or chuddy are so apologies 💔💔

   One last thing all the love interests I write are as down bad as physically possible 🥰 ( pre-readers know abt Kaede and can back me up! 🎤 )
