Whatever seems to be the one thing that makes the best of you suddenly becomes nonexistent, you lose yourself. I lost that. I lost myself. I gave and I gave, and did what I could to protect people who were just elderly and one child. I let myself starve for days on end for them for all of them to just disappear. I left and defected from my own sect from these people. I took an unorthodox path because I could no longer take the righteous path and I get called ill-bred and arrogant. This isn't what my parents would have wanted for me. I stood there on the roof of Nightless City, looking down on all the clans that stood against me. I tried to tell them it was not me. None of it was my fault and I was blames. I was ambushed when I was invited to my nephew's celebration.

What do these people take me for?

Jin Guangshan said to get into formation and he wanted me dead. I used resentment to keep them away from me, not kill them or harm them, just scare them. Lan Zhan even tried to fight me. He stood against me, like I expected he would. When Shijie took that sword for me, that was when I felt like I was not longer human, and just an empty shell. After killing the man who killed my Shijie, I hopped onto the roof of the Scorching Sun Palace.

I took out the amulet and everyone froze, "This is all that you guys want right?" I asked as tears fell. I then summoned all the resentful energy in me and around me and let it soak into the amulet. It was soon holding too much and it exploded.

I then jumped down to the cliff side. Lan Zhan tried to call for me. I was going to fall back but I then saw an opportunity. I began to walk to Lan Zhan, and he looked relieved. Within one swift move, I grabbed his arm, the one that held his sword, and shoved the sword in the middle of my stomach. Just barely missing my lungs. Lan Zhan's eyes widened at the sight.

"Wei Ying, why?" He asked.

"I'm done," I answered quietly as I choked out some blood, "No one will listen to me. I used the little spiritual energy I had left to do this," I then shoved him away and fell to the ground.

Lan Zhan came back to me without caring about anyone else and laid me in his lap, "What do you mean? Little spiritual energy you had left?"

I slowly raised my hand and placed it on his cheek, "I wish this was under better circumstances, but you should know that you were the only one I ever trusted, but I feel like you do not trust me."

"I trust you, Wei Ying," Lan Zhan said, "I know what really happened. Wen Ning, I saw him before...He told me that he heard a second flute."

"It happened here too," I said and let my hand fall from his face.

"I know, let me protect you until we find the truth, Wei Ying, please let me help you," He said, "I need you."

"With the amulet gone, my body will fall apart. It has been broken into dust since the Sunshot campaign. I can never heal these injuries I have gained. Wen Qing has already tried...but she lacked resources."

I saw a figure move on the other side of me and I shifted closer to Lan Zhan unconsciously, "I won't hurt you," the person said. It was Zewu Jun, "I've been listening to you. Unlike everyone else here, I want to understand. The things you are saying now, what do you mean you're injured? Even before the battle just now?"
