One Shot 11: This Love

Wei Wuxian had been arranged to marry Lan Wangji of the GusuLan Clan. Not only was it a wish of is mother's but it was to be followed through as well. It was also a wish of Lan Wangji's parents. Though they both lost their parents, their relatives were still going to fulfill their wishes. So Wei Wuxian married into the Lan Clan and his former clan, the Jiang Clan, was alliances with them.

The two only touched each other one time and that was to consummate their marriage and then they maintained their distance. With Wangji's older brother's help, Lan Xichen, Wei Wuxian learned to make Wangji's favorite moon cakes. Lan Xichen was the only one who knew it aside from his mother and he'd make them for Wangji a lot when he was a child. Wuxian was not a good cook but he learned to cook for Wangji.

Even though Wangji never ate with him, he still ate the food Wuxian made him. The thing was, someone else claimed to have made the food. Wei Wuxian didn't care, as he knew the truth would come out eventually. Lan Wangji was kind to him but spoke very little. He did make sure Wei Wuxian was comfortable in his new environment, which Wuxian was thankful for.

Wei Wuxian was used to being treated this way. Ignored or even yelled at. After is parents died, he was taken in by Jiang Fengmian and was raised in Lotus Pier. His wife, Yu Ziyuan, was not a nice person. She made Wei Wuxian seem to be the most shameless and undisciplined person to exist. Even Lan Wangji's uncle Lan Qiren, believed such rumors.

That was until Wei Wuxian started to live in Cloud Recesses. Wei Wuxian hasn't caused trouble once and Lan Qiren even had people look after Wuxian when Wuxian was not at the Jingshi. Lan Qiren would occasionally spend time with the boy and found that Wei Wuxian was very kind and polite. He does have a little bit of a shameless mouth and likes to be playful but that was far different from what Lan Qiren was told or even heard.

Lan Xichen had silently watched a woman take credit for Wei Wuxian's work. The food Wuxian cooked, she said she made it when she delivered it to Wangji on Wuxian's behalf. Lan Xichen knew the woman for a while and knew she was a terrible cook. She had an interest in Wangji for years and hated that Wangji had an arranged marriage with Wuxian. So she took matters into her own hands and began to take credit for work that she didn't do to gain his attention.

Wangji even fell for it and Xichen was going to step in but Wuxian told him not to. Xichen held back as he figured Wuxian would handle it in his own way. He just hated seeing his brother not pay attention to Wuxian who was his husband and didn't even pay Wuxian a passing glance most of the time. What hurt him though, was seeing Wangji kissing the girl and even Wuxian saw it. Wuxian said if he wants her then it's okay, their marriage was a loveless affair and if Wangji loved her for the wrong reasons Wuxian wasn't going to get in his way.

Everything for the girl was going well, until one day, Wei Wuxian got extremely sick and spent his time at the infirmary. She was not sending Wangji anything she would normally, and it became a daily thing for her to bring him something nice. Wangji isn't a material person so buying gifts were a waste of time compared to making them. The woman had no skills and Wangji soon noticed that and even noticed the baked goods stopped coming.

Since Wuxian was sick, he was unconscious as it was pretty serious. He has had a weaker immune system as he grew up on the streets for a few years and because of it, he was more prone to sickness. He neglects his own health quite often and forgets to eat or take care of himself. Lan Xichen couldn't sit by anymore and told Lan Qiren everything that has been going on.

Lan Qiren was furious. Lan Wangji was being tricked and unfaithful all the while Wuxian was being considerate to him the entire time. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji have been married for almost five years at this point and Lan Qiren felt ashamed  that Lan Wangji was tricked for this long. Lan Qiren and Lan Xichen called the girl and Wangji to the Yashi to fix this issue immediately.
