Chapter 13

*Benny's POV*

"Honestly, I really miss her," Squints was saying. I was only half listening. I need to talk to her. But Yeah Yeah said she was hesitant. About talking to him, I mean.

"I think I'm gonna talk to her," I mumbled.

"What? Why?" Ham said. "She's a trader remember?" Shes not. I made the mistake of kissing her. I probably embarrassed her. But she kissed back?

"She's not a trader..." I said, standing up and walking away. I need to find her.

I was walking to the field Phillips plays on. Since she's hanging out with them, she has to be there.

I got to the field but couldn't spot Jordan.

"Phillips!" I shouted. Right now, he was the only one I was gonna talk to.

He ran up to me mumbling. "Yeah," he asked, when he reached me.

"Where's Jordan?" I asked.

"She left. I dunno. I told her to go home. She seemed bored. But that was yesterday. She didn't show up this morning."

"Okay, great." I said walking away. I stopped and turned around. "Phillips?" I said.

"Yeah?" He turned around.

"Thanks" I never thought I would ever say that to him...

*at Jordan's house*

I knocked on the door. She answered, in tears. What happened?

"Oh my god, Jordan! What's wrong?" I asked, sincerely concerned.

"Nothing," she said, wiping away tears. "Can we talk? Outside, preferably?" She asked.

"Yeah, right after you tell me what's wrong." I said.

"I don't want to talk about it. Now, please. Let's just talk outside."

I nodded. We walked around the block, talking.

"Listen, are you listening to me?" She asked, stopping and turning to me.

"Yeah, of course." I said. She grabbed my hands.

"I'm sorry. For everything. I shouldn't have stopped coming to the sandlot. I shouldn't have hung out with Phillips, I shouldn't have done anything I did." She apologized.

"Its okay. But... You weren't embarrassed because I kissed you?" I asked.

"No, never. Benny, listen. I like you. You know that. I wouldn't be embarrassed by that." She reassured me. I smiled. She did too.

Then, she kissed me. Right in front of everyone who may have seen. She. Kissed. Me.
