Dr. Hanji slid the knife down the cadavers chest, her hair falling into her face but she pushed it back with one swoop of her hand, thrilled at the thought of finding out any new information from today's experiment. The door behind her creaked open and she listened to the footsteps pattering towards her. Slightly heavy with a light bounce back up, quick movement and short distance and time between steps, she didn't even have to turn around to know it was Levi. She spotted him out of her peripherals, sliding his lab coat on and grabbing the clip board on her right before muttering an apology.
"Sorry I'm late."
"You're only a minute late, it's not too big of a deal," She laughed. He was normally ten minutes early and waited for her outside of the building until she arrived, which tended to be about one minute before the time she had said she would be there. "Long night?" She asked as she made another incision, this time on the other side of the cadavers chest.
Levi thought to last night and the events that had unfolded. It had been a fun evening out, getting to spend time with his friends, however what stuck out to him was when he had danced with Mikasa and the odd chemistry he had felt between them.
"You could say that," He responded, watching her hands move expertly and precisely.
"Meet anyone?" She always asked him this whenever she found out that he had gone out with his friends. She liked to tease him and would always tell him that one day he would meet someone and he would always respond by rolling his eyes and telling her to get back to work.
He let out a huff of air this time, no rolling of the eyes, and shook his head. She paused and looked up at him, his eyes darted to meet hers.
"You did." She whispered.
"No." He whispered back, "Why are we whispering?"
"Because I'm trying to not get too excited because you definitely did meet someone."
Levi crossed his arms, "Even if I did it's none of your business."
Hanji let out a whoop of excitement and set down her scalpel, twirling in a circle before grabbing Levi's shoulders. "What's her name?"
"I. Didn't. Meet. Anyone."
She pushed him back in annoyance, "You're no fun."
Levi rolled his eyes and motioned toward the body on the table in front of them, "Shouldn't we be working, not trying to delve into each other's personal lives."
Shrugging, Hanji went back to work and muttered, "We can do both." She pressed, "You don't have to be so secretive Levi."
Levi knew that she wouldn't stop until he gave in even a little bit, "If you would like to get into technicalities, yes, I met someone however not in the way you are insinuating."
"Was it a girl?"
Levi nodded and wrote down a note on the pad as she continued with her work.
"Well, that's a step in the right direction."
"She's Eren's sister, and she's just down to tour the university."
"Ah," She nodded in understanding, best friends sisters could be problematic on so many levels, "So are you going to take her out sometime?"
"I told you, it's not what you think."
"So there was no attraction whatsoever?"
Despite the fact that Levi was a master at concealing his emotions ninety-nine percent of the time, lying was not his strongest suit. He simply glared at Dr. Hanji, wishing she would stop prying into his personal life. He liked her and he liked working with her, but talking about these things made him feel slightly awkward and even more so with his boss.
