Class ended and Mikasa grabbed her books off of her desk and straightened her skirt as she rose. A shove came from behind as a man bumped into her, causing her to spill all of her books that had been in her hands. She bent down and glanced up at the man who sneered at her and continued to walk away with his friends who gave her a judgemental look. She did nothing but picked up her books and knew that she didn't need to do anything at the moment, he was angry because she was first in the class and he was second.
She walked into the foyer and was met by Levi who was waiting for he outside of the classroom. She smiled when she saw him and walked towards him though not able to give him a hug as her hands were full of her books.
"Hey," She pecked him on the cheek and they walked out of the building together, both of their classes done for the day.
"That boy pushed you," Levi said as they walked out of the doors.
Mikasa became very serious and spoke quietly, "Yes, and I've told you before that causing a scene is not going to fix anything."
"It will get them to respect you more."
"Levi, please. If something more serious happens I will do something, but for now it's not important. Please, just let me handle things the way I see fit."
Levi sighed and ran his hands through his hair, "All right."
Mikasa smiled, "Thank you."
Levi grumbled, annoyed that she would not cause a bit of a scene unless she felt the desperate need for one. She most definitely was stubborn and opinionated but she also saw that it was difficult to be a woman in university, and she did not want to cause any problems that might get her kicked out and farther away from her dreams of becoming a doctor.
The brisk November air bit both of them as they walked towards Levi's apartment, making their noses cold and their cheeks red.
"Let me take your books," Levi reached and grabbed them from her arms.
"Levi, I'm perfectly capable of carrying my own books."
Levi rolled his eyes, "Yes, and I'm capable of carrying them for you. You're also capable of letting me. Aren't we a capable couple?"
Mikasa scoffed and let him carry the books.
"We're going to have someone over for dinner this evening," Levi commented as they continued to walk.
"Oh," Mikasa asked, "Who is that?"
She had known that they were going to be having dinner that evening, their group of friends, but she hadn't known about this unknown guest.
"A colleague of mine, Dr. Hanji hired him a few months back and he doesn't know anyone apparently."
Mikasa was shocked, Levi had invited someone over for dinner. "So you invited him to dinner? That's awfully nice of you Levi."
"Tch, no, Dr. Hanji did that for me."
A laugh escaped Mikasa, she should have known. Though she loved Levi and his odd self, quiet yet sarcastic, opinionated yet able to follow, she knew that he was not the best at making friends. He was content with his small group and never really saw the need for more. Then again, she never did either but she was still a little bit more open to it than he was.
"She invited him to dinner with us?"
"Yes, she's great at doing things like that. She's a pain in the ass."
They reached a supermarket that they often went to and Levi motioned for them to enter, he needed some vegetables for their dinner that evening. His mind rushed trying to do the math about how much he could spend right now and still have enough for the rest of the week. They walked inside and Levi walked up to the tomatoes, eyeing each of them individually.
