Levi ran to the diner that was about ten blocks away from their apartment, thoughts racing through his mind about what he was going to say.  Could he just rush in there in the middle of their date, was that fair to them?

Alls fair in love and war,

He thought to himself.  Love.  Wait, had he really just thought that word.

Stop it, Levi, just admit you like her you idiot.

He mentally kicked himself and continued into the brightly lit diner and spotted Mikasa and Jean sitting in a booth across the room.  He worked up his nerve and walked over nearly talking himself out of doing this before he reached them

Mikasa was picking at a burger and Jean had a soda in hand, they were both laughing and seemed to be enjoying themselves.  Jealousy pricked inside of Levi's stomach, before he reached the table the two noticed and waited for him to reach the table.

"Hey Levi, what're you doing here?" Jean asked before taking a sip of his soda.

Levi calmly spoke, "I need to speak with Mikasa."

Jean shrugged, "Okay."

Mikasa nodded and walked with Levi to a corner in the room, Jean watching out of the corner of his eyes as the two began their private conversation.

"Mikasa I don't think you should go out with Jean," He said bluntly.

Mikasa had an impatient look on her face and crossed her arms, "Why not? We're having a nice time."

"Because he's not the type of person who deserves you, you deserve better."

Mikasa still had her impatient look but gazed deeply into Levi's eyes, "Oh, and do you think there is some one else better who does deserve me?"

Levi stuttered, he was flustered for the first time in his life, afraid to say something wrong.  Taking in a deep breath he collected himself and then spoke, "No.  I don't.  But I do think there is someone who would care for you and care about you better than he can.  Someone who won't move on when they're done with what they want with you because, really, all they want is to be with you."

Mikasa's stance relaxed and Levi continued, "I think that there is someone, who even though they might not deserve you, will try very hard to learn more about you and try to win you over every day.  Someone whose view has been changed a little bit just because you were you, nothing more."

Jean was trying to be subtle about watching them from the corner of his eye but both Mikasa and Levi could tell that he was eavesdropping, or at least trying to.

"Levi-"

He held up his hand,"I'm sorry that I interrupted your date I just...I don't think Jean is right for you."

"Well then you'll be glad to know that I don't either," Mikasa said calmly.

"Then why are you on a date with him?"

"I have my reasons Levi."

Levi wasn't sure what to say next, the words he had prepared in his mind on the way over evaporating like vapor in front of him. He looked back at Jean who was glancing out the window beside the booth and then at Mikasa who was peering at him intently. She looked beautiful, a small amount of makeup, her cheeks naturally pinkish, wearing a forest green dress that made her hair stand out and her eyes glow.

"You look beautiful," He breathed, not sure where to go from there but knowing that he at least had to tell her this.

"Thank you," She responded gratefully, she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, waiting, hoping that he would say something else.
