As Sirius and Remus looked past, Harry jumped up and down excitedly.
"Harry!" Hermione grabbed him by the arm and pulled him into a corner.
"What? I want Sirius," he squeaked.
"And I want pudding, haha. How are we supposed to tell the truth?"Harry became serious.
"I don't know. Now?""How?" asked Hermione again.
"I don't know," said Harry.
"Okay, I'll just try it from the top of my head.
"Hermione rubbed her hands together and then joined the adults at the table to eat another piece of cake.Harry perched on Sirius' lap.
"Erm - Mum, Dad," she began, still feeling a little weird calling Lily and James that, "who defeated Lord Voldemort again?""That you should ask that, you've read whole tomes about the victory, of course lots of people did. Children, even. When four were fourteen, it happened. A Hermione and Harry Granger, George, Ginny and Ron Weasley, Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom. We named you both after Harry and Hermione, Molly named her children after George, Ginny and Ron, Pandora and Xenophilius named their daughter after Luna and Alice and Frank named their daughter after Neville."
"And what happened to the heroes after the victory?" asked Hermione.
"Disappeared without a trace," said Lily.
"I think I know what happened to them," said Hermione.
"Really?" Sirius made eyes like a dog."Yes.""Tell me," the canine animagus demanded.
"Sirius!" That was Lily, "That's no way to talk to children! Hermione, do you really know?"
"Yes." "Can you tell?" asked Lily."Yes.""Great, go on." That was James and this time it was up to Remus to punch him in the arm.
"I'm Hermione Granger, Harry is Harry Granger, Ginny, George and Ron are the three Weasleys, Neville is Neville Lovegood and Luna is Luna," said Hermione.
"What do you mean?" asked Sirius.
"The year was 1998, and the terrible Battle of Hogwarts, in which Remus and Tonks also died, was over. Neville dropped a time reverser and we ended up in 1974. When we defeated Voldemort there, we ended up here. Here, in the world without Voldemort.""Crass." James was the first to say something. "So you beat me and Sirius in battle?""You bet," Hermione said, taking a bite of cake.
"And my son beat me at Quidditch," James said in amazement.
"Why can't you remember? Hermione was telling the truth in 1974!" asked Harry.
"Probably oblivious," said Hermione dryly.
"How?""Brainwashed.""I don't know how to interpret that now." Harry shook his head and set about eating his cake. "Alscho, who is this really -" "Swallow! That's disgusting!""Sorry." Harry shrugged his shoulders. "Well, I'm really looking forward to seeing Fred and Cedric."
"Why is that?" Lily asked in surprise, "We only saw them two days ago - oh no, that's right, you can't remember."
"Why? Because I had to watch Cedric being murdered by Voldemort and Fred dying in the battle!" Harry roared and dropped his cake on his plate.
"I have my memories from my old life. I can still see Thestrals," he said quietly.
"Come here." Lily took him in her arms.
"And I had to watch Bellatrix murder Sirius, watch Voldemort murder you and Dad," Harry whispered.
"Horrible." Lily hugged her younger son tightly.
