James and Sirius didn't have to coordinate. When they saw the Granger girl pull her brother out, they picked up their cloaks and followed them.

"What is it?" asked Harry, obviously annoyed but interested.

"It just occurred to me, Harry, if we're here, we can save the others! We're going on a Horcrux hunt! Why am I telling you now? And only to you? We have to choose who we go with! Two people... or three, we can't be too many, Harry, you know where they are, we have to prevent another battle - maybe even a battle for Hogwarts - at all costs! It would cost too many lives! Ron can't come with us if we have Horcruxes again, his mood swings and clumsiness would be too dangerous, we have to take trained fighters - we aren't either, but I'll choose who to take, I know what I'm doing! Now go back, they'll get suspicious."

The two marauders hardly understood a thing. Who did Granger want to save? And what about a battle for Hogwarts? And what were Horcruxes?

James looked at Sirius, who formed the word 'Moony' with his lips. Yes, Remus would know what was going on, after all, he was the smartest and best in class - next to Lily Evans. After the ball, James and Sirius intercepted their friend.

After the ball, James and Sirius intercepted their friend. "Hey, Moony, we overheard the Granger twins! That Hermione said they want to go on a Horcrux hunt and can only take certain people, do you know what a Horcrux is?"

"Horcrux?" asked Remus, "I don't know, we can look it up in the library."

Of course, Sirius and James were not thrilled that Remus was looking for the solution in the library again and tried to sneak away, which didn't work, soon the moon was full and Remus' senses were sharper than usual.

"You'd better look through the pile, I'll intercept Hermione. She'll probably know if she talks about it." Remus stood up and walked to the other corner of the library, where Hermione was reading a book and taking notes.

"Hello, Granger, can I ask you something?""Sure, Lupin, what's up?" She didn't even look up from her book.

"My friends heard you talking about Horcruxes the other day and I should ask what they are."

Hermione looked up, her expression stone cold. "Horcrux? Potter and Black are still spying on us? Horcruxes are black magic items, none of your business! I thought at least you had some sense, Lupin, I won't tell you anything! That would be fatal!"

She closed her book, stood up with a jerk so that the chair crashed to the floor and rushed out of the room, followed by curious glances.

"What was that?" Sirius asked, bewildered, when Remus rejoined them.

"I don't know, but she doesn't seem to be in a good mood, at least she got hard as a rock when I mentioned it and ran out. But she did mention that they're black magic items and if we knew, we could die. What do you think she means?" Remus looked at his friends.

"Maybe it has something to do with you-know-who? They might be Death Eaters and have discussed everything with him. They play the part really convincingly," Sirius speculated.

"You still only have bad things to say to them, don't you? Just because you don't like them, especially the Granger boy, but we can't do it that way, we have to take a different route." Remus looked at James.

"How about we engage Harry Granger or Ginny Weasley in a conversation, they talk a lot. Quick, before Granger warns them!"

James nodded. "Moony, your job again, you're best suited for it, I'm afraid Granger wouldn't have even mentioned black magic items with me.""Go, Moony, go!" Sirius punched the air with one hand.
